Just got back from my first ever Monster Truck show (My favorite, El Turo Loco). I must admit, I didn't know what to expect. I was as in awe as the children entering behind me who kept ooeing and ahhing. Their parents must have fooled them earlier because one said, "I thought we were going to Chucky Cheese." I had been concerned about the flying dirt, but it had been so watered down I didn't notice any lingering in the air because of its almost mud consistency.

At first I didn't think there was enough room in the Time Warner Cable Arena, but it was an exciting time to see those huge beast on wheels go air born and almost hang there for seconds. It's just amazing how they run right over smaller cars. For what they did, there was plenty of room, but I'm sure there's nothing like an opened top arena with lots of room for them to speed. There were exhaust issues which lead to a white cloud hovering above the arena, but that was quickly remedied when fan systems were turned on and the cloud diapered, but the exhaust oders stayed present throughout the event.

While I don't see myself following after this type of event or wheeling out to see it every time it comes to town, it was something new for me, something to do. I liked it okay. I believe there are still 2 more shows on Feb.13 before they head out of town. An unexpected treat of the evening was seeing Carowinds guest who were happy to see me. We talked about Phantom Flyers, of course, but the topic that dominated our conversation... The Intemidator.

Interesting weather we're having lately...

ah, too bad I missed you! We went to the late show last night(7:30). It was cool. I'm not really a "fan" of the series or anything, but I knew my kids would like it. And after seeing a commercial for Destroy, Build, Destroy on Nick with Grave Digger and Maximum Destruction in it, got excited about it. And yes, I'm sure in a bigger stadium the action is more intense. Too bad Grave Digger busted his axle, cut down on what he could do. BUT, instead of packing it in, he came out and put on a show for everyone anyway as best he could. They understand it's a show for the fans, too bad some other sports can't be like that too. As we were leaving, there was a line for autographs. I'm afraid to know how long it stretched, but I'm sure they were there for a while. I'll have to post a few pics off my phone when I get them off.

From what I understand, they didn't have the pre-show at your time slot, where everyone when down on the floor to get autographs of the drivers and see the big rigs up close. That line you mentioned was done at our pre-show where the drivers signed, papers, books, flags, and whatever.

You're right, the kids loved it! One little boy told me that he had the Monster Truck game on Wii, and several others during the night held up their miniature models for me to see, but not one of them handed over their truck for me to play with. Gosh, dang it! Those stingy little brats. Makes me want to just run out to Wal-Mart right now and buy a whole set...

I also thought those boomerang frisbees were cool.

I didn't know there would be dune buggy races, or whatever those upgraded go-carts were. The guy representing NC won at our show. Now, I must admit, I got into that race. They should have had a full track race because they captured my attention.

How did you like the guy closing himself up in the dynamite case?
I believer the box was cardboard, painted to look like a metal case, and the dynamite was really a high percentage of gun power to go B O O M! Man, that sure was a loud explosion! What are your thoughts on the dynamite case?...
