My guess is like you guys were saying some small celebration or something like that. Maybe even something about the dark ride.
Hey everyone,
I am putting the finishing touches on Thursday's new attraction information. We'll have a new webpage, Funtimes, news release, and more to get the word out. So, keep your eyes on worldsoffun.com throughout the day and I'll be sure to put up an update whenever we announce our project.
I'm REALLY looking forward to this capital project and of course after its announced then the fun of construction updates and all that starts again.
So, see you Thursday and we'll go from there!
In other news, I'll also put up the 2010 Fun Guide and a downloadable calendar poster for blog readers, so look forward to those later in the week.
Oh, and if you are looking for a gig this season, we have our first job fair here at the park on Saturday. Hit the Jobs section for more details.
Have a great Tuesday!
This summer, Worlds of Fun will be a whole other place after dark.
On Thursday the theme park in Kansas City, North, will announce the addition of a $1 million “immersive†light-and-sound experience that will feature giant inflatable versions of the “Peanuts†gang enjoying classic summertime activities.
“Snoopy’s Hot Summer Lights†will be made up of 2 million-plus LED lights, sort of a grander-scale, higher-tech version of holiday displays like Christmas in the Park.
This one, though, will be a walk-through in your shorts instead of a drive-through in your car. Worlds of Fun officials say the dazzling display will offer plenty of photo ops for visitors.
The lights will be installed along and above midways in about one-third of the park, primarily in the Africa and Europa sections. Although Worlds of Fun opens for its 38th season April 17, “Summer Lights†won’t debut until June 4.
“This is a huge investment for our family market,†said Nick Guevel, Worlds of Fun’s marketing director.
For families with children who want to stay after dark to ride the rides, “this gives parents something fun to do and the younger kids something fun to do.â€
The light display will feature five scenes: an “underwater†experience, with Linus up above in a canoe, lighted fish swimming by; Sally roasting marshmallows in a fire pit; Snoopy letting fireflies loose from a jar; Charlie Brown playing baseball as fans cheer; and Lucy having a picnic, complete with giant flies, ladybugs and flowers.
