General Carowinds discussion

This topic is almost too embarrassing to bring it up but I am doing so in hopes that a little publicity on the matter may help.

Here we are just weeks away from opening and I can't help but notice the exorbitant amount of litter aIong I-77 (northbound & southbound) especially on the SC side. Thousands of plastic grocery bags, beer bottles, soda cans, line the concrete barrier and roadside. The dead coyote in the median had been there for weeks. The interchange of Carowinds Blvd and I-77 is so full of litter, I am surprised that Cedar Fair hasn't complained to York County officials or whoever is responsible.

We have a world class coaster just weeks away from it's debut, along with the Nascar HoF, and visitors will be greeted by roadsides that look like they belong in some third world country. It's sickening!! No park visitor should have to encounter should trash upon entering a park. It's downright embarrassing!

I know the temps have been cold but I also hope help is on the way for the entry road into the park. I was almost sideswiped by a car last weekend by someone trying to avoid one of the many, many potholes.

Listen up Cedar Fair. Avoid buiding any new attractions in the SC side until they can clean up that interchange and I-77.

I do agree it is extremely embarrassing. However, what else do you expect. South Carolina is quickly reaching the bottom of the totem pole in the ranks of other states in the US. Politically, South Carolinians are being dragged through the mud thanks to our government officials. Governor Sandford and John Edwards are just two that come quickly to mind. The US is noticing SC in despicable ways because of our no-brained politicians, who should honestly be publicly burned at the stake for their misuse of power and corruption. There probably is no money in the state fund to clean the roadways or repair them since our precious governor wastes mine and your hard-earned tax paying dollars on outlandish adventures to Argentina or where ever it is he went, just to be with another woman. I don't care what you do behind closed doors, but if it involves MY MONEY then yeah I have a MAJOR PROBLEM WITH IT!!! I have a hunch that the reason why education costs keep getting slashed here in SC is because of him and his trips and his corrupt laws and deeds (and I know he isnt the only one). Man, I bet you if he would have never gone to see this house-breaking woman, I-77 could have most likely been repaved and oh yeah, we would have had to cut funding to schools by nearly $3 million or whatever the slashed costs were in the last three years. With a bad economy, a war that the American PUBLIC seem to not want to support (They don't support the war, they do support our troops), and never-ending political nonsense, be glad we got a piece of the pie to try and make it better. Remember we got a slice of the pie this year, and not a bruised banana.

I am not saying any of this to be contrite or mean in anyway but to just simply point out some key things that are relevant to which you state. Also remember, there is a process, if you file a complaint something might get done. Get a petition together, and an even stronger chance that something will get done. But remember, there is always a process unless you are in an Anarchy or until the American people get smart enough to force the change on the government.

you know you can always park on the side of the road and bring a trash bag with ya... lol lol.

I can care less whats on the side of the highway. I think cedar fair should focus on the park and not the path it takes to get there...they already enough fish to fry. Now if a new tax is being pressed on the park for interstate up keep then yeah, they would have a reason to worry but c'mon...who is actually caring about road kill. Long as I get in the park in one piece I dont care about what it looked like to get there...

bottom line if people complain about the problem and wait for a bigger suit to either voice it or do something about then what are they for? My neighborhood has clean sweeps atleast once a month to take care of OUR community. Why wait for a goverment official to clean it...

and john edwards = north carolina...

Anyone in the area care to post some pictures of the roadsides? Because to compare them to a "third world country" is kinda sensational to me....

Im just saying...

I agree, it does look pretty bad. It would be sad if we had to organize a clean up crew on our own, but I'd be willing to volunteer if nothing is done before opening day. I snapped a few pics this morning but thought better of posting them - too embarrassing. However, where's that dead coyote? I have to get a picture of that!

As for the area across the street, relax, these guys have us covered every morning, lol.

Could have been Carowinds Blvd. I don't think they do adoptions for interstates, or at least I wouldn't want to pick up trash on them.

Those look like third world geese...

Just go to the SCDOT website and write them. I did that when they first widened I-77 and never picked up any trash for a while... they said they had to get their safety procedures lined out first, and then picked up the trash shortly after that. I don't know what their excuse is now

It don't cost too much to shakle a bunch of inmates together and let them pick up trash together. Of course, I guess some idiot group would call that "cruel and unusual punishment". I'm ready for "change", BACK TO THE OLD DAYS!!

Back to the old days?? In the "old days" people took care of the situation THEIRSELVES and not sit back and complain and wait for big brother goverment to come to the rescue. Its nothing wrong to voice your concerns but if you aren't even doing anything about it you're just might as well not say anything about it. I mean call the scdot and ask how can you get a clean up crew together of you and some friends, get the news outlets involved. No, better yet FIND OUT WHY ITS TRASHED before complaining about a situation when you don't really know what's going on and assuming you know why. Cause to be quite honest, complaining about it on a roller coaster website, I'm sure the people who needs to see it won't see it!
