General Carowinds discussion

As the newest member of the site, (well, up to this moment at least :D ) I'd like to ask in what ways you think Intimidator will be advertised. Yeah, I know this sounds dumb, but seriously, as I remember it, Carolina Cobra wasn't advertised all that extensively. I remember a few short Ride Warriors commercials on TV and radio but that's just about it. Do you think that this time around Carowinds might invest in some lengthy commercials?

Good point. I was talking to 2 some people the other day and they didn't even know abnout what was new for Carowind's in 2010. They didn't even know about the Carolina Cobra last year.
But once the season gets started , I'm sure we will be seeing all the advertisement's.

Actually cobra was advertised pretty well. I saw several billboards in columbia advertising cobra, as well as intimidator.

Well, I suppose it could have been advertised to a higher degree in Columbia, but where I live in Burke County, NC, I heard very little about it. In fact, if I my school band hadn't planned to go, I'd hardly even have known Carowinds had a new coaster in 2009.

There were several billboards in concord area, and lake norman area advertising cobra, but all were gone by the end of the season. Carowinds probaly rented the billboards for like 6 months. Haven't seen any for intimidator yet.

Yeah I saw quite a few billboards around town. One was rather funny being over top of the abandoned Uptons on Albemarle Rd. Sounds kinda like the park Head Spin came from...abandoned.

I remeber a burger king cupon for carowinds that had cobra on it and there was a news paper write up in march. I don't think much coaster news gets to Raleigh seeing as how were 3 1/2 hours from any park.

You probably saw them in Myrtle Beach because of Freestyle.

I'm all for advertising, but more of it means more people in the park. Good for Carowinds' pocketbook, bad for me getting lots of rides on Intimidator

Honestly...

the theme park industry is a duel edge sword. You could be a successful park that makes its guest happy about being able to ride this ride and that ride all within an hour but also risk being able to stay alive and compete with other parks/business in the entertainment industry. Or you could be a successful park that stays ahead of the competition but risks not having complete customer satisfaction because there are huge crowds and individual attention on guests suffers. It almost seems like a juggler doing a high wire act.

Makes me have a lot of respect for the upper management of any theme/amusement/waterpark.

Has anyone seen any signs advertising the intimidator?

I have not, but when they do put up the billboards i hope they spell everything right. They seemed to have a problem with on their own sign. Thanks Wormy for pointing it out awhile back.
