General Carowinds discussion

No, I'm not talking nausea, insomnia, or anything like that.

I've been checking out trip reports on other sites, and it seems there are a lot of enthusiasts that hit the park this weekend that haven't been before. This is of course due to Intimidator.

The big side effect of Intimidator drawing people to Carowinds for the first time is that good ol' Afterburn is getting noticed, and it's getting rave reviews. I rode it with a group from Ohio on Sunday, and they were all talking about how good it was. And it was running a bit sluggish at the time. I've seen similar very positive comments on various TRs.

Not only could Intimidator itself make a good showing in the polls this year, it could also provide a nice boost for Afterburn. I've seen it suggested that Carowinds may have the best one-two B&M punch anywhere with these rides, and I certainly wouldn't argue with that as I think both rides are superb.

The only negative so far is lots of KI people want to steal their flyers back after getting to ride them again. It was fun flying with a group of them Sunday. If they want to fly them again, though, they have to come down here - they're ours now.

Aside from the tree cutting...

I think they did everything right this year given what they had. Boo Blasters is getting rave reviews, Planet Snoopy looks awesome, the wooden coasters are said to ride better, and there are only a few more coasters that need new paint.

People will come for Intimidator and come back because the park is really in a good place this year. Again, I think if they can finish with the pavers, paint the rest of the coasters, add something dynamic to the water park, put a new movie in the Motion Theater and make use of 3D and other effects, and add a couple of flats, the park will be a big draw, even to enthusiasts.

Put some Petroleum Jelly with Shea butter on those things and drink some water.

They'll have to get past me first to get to my Flyers!

I haven't ridden in the rain yet but boy am I sore. Working on that ride has all my muscles aching and I can't seem to get enough to eat. I know the job is whipping me into shape but it's the pain of getting there.

That's really cool Ken. I know I was searched Carowinds on Twitter last week and I saw there were a bunch of KI Central folks coming down. It's good to know that people are coming down and not just hitting Intimidator, but also seeing what else Carowinds has to offer. I can agree, Afterburn and Intimidator is one good 1-2 punch.

How do you like the new palm trees? I think they're an excellent addition to the park this year.

Another side effect is all the season pass holders.
This was the line for season pass processing today. The end was right where those flowers are.
