As negative as I was about the pizza, I'm compelled to commend the park for today's positive food experience. Today was the first time my wife accompanied me since 2004, and we followed her nose.

I've always been a fan of Country Kitchen's fried chicken, but today it was OMG good. She raved about it for an hour. Later in the day she smelled seafood, and Outer Hanks really did deliver. Even though they ran out of tartar sauce, and the shrimp was overcooked, the hot fried fish with a cold, yes cold, beer hit the spot. Dem fried patater chips was good too. So, if you're on cholesterol meds, stick with the fried grub.

Side note, since she hasn't been to the park in six years, (she really liked Cobra :| ), I had to explain our used ride collection and what ride came from where. When she asked me which park Intimidator came from, I had to smile.

Glad to hear that Outer Hanks still delivers. Back when we had the Paramount Gold passes with the 20-30% discount on food, I used to eat here quite a bit as it wasn't much more than something at Wendy's, and a lot more convenient. Not sure about the current menu, but the also had some excellent burgers and BBQ sandwiches, although I usually got the fish.

Country Kitchen used to be my favorite as a kid / teen. It was somewhat hit and miss on my few visits there over the last 10 years. Looks like I need to add that to the rotation, as well as try the places by Hurler and the Skytower.

I've been to Carowinds twice already this year and the food is my biggest complaint. Where are the healthy options? Carowinds options are all fried. And Water at $4 (depending on where you buy it from, it's $3.99 plus tax)? Give me a break.

I'm thankful for the season pass because otherwise I wouldn't think staying at the park for 2 hours and then leaving would be worth it. But yesterday I was hungry and wanted something somewhat healthy. At one time they had a Subway franchise at the park. I'd settle for that but I'm sure the $5 footlong would cost $10.

Anyway. I also had the opportunity to hit Dollywood on Friday. The food options are better...The prices are about the same with the exception of bottled water. A 20 oz bottle of Dasani water at Dollywood is $2.49 plus tax. A bottle of Smart Water is more expensive but it still wasn't over $4. Dollywood's food was much better than Carowinds and you had options other than fried.

Oh, one more thing. At Joe Cool opposite what used to be the Reptar, they advertise Deli sandwiches on the side of the building. So I thought there was hope. When I looked at the menu inside all I saw was a Grilled Chicken sandwich. False advertising?

I can't help you on the food, but as for the water, you can at least get ice and tap water for free at any restaurant or food stall.

I was gonna get a new souvenir cup yesterday, but all i could find was those damn cobra cups everywhere. I decided to wait. I am sure they will get new intimidator cups pretty soon. I have to say that it is the best deal on re-fills and free ice water with cups.

I am curious to where the subway went to. I also noticed that chick fil a was gone, or i just walked right past it.

Why doesn't anybody just bring there own food and stop complaining about food at carowinds being to "High cost".
Its what i do and it's actually a good idea.

For Everyone (in case you haven't already figured this out): The Park does not allow outside food and beverage in unless for certain circumstances. If security does stop you and not allow you to bring it in...please simply just take it back to the car where you can go later on for a meal. There is no use in having your food taken from you if they want to force that policy. Just don't make a scene about it, the employees should be polite about it. I know a past security officer who would try to enforce this rule and got many complaints against him, but all he was doing was his job. Honestly though, Carowinds does very little effort to enforce this rule so many shouldn't have a problem with it if it is something small. Now if it is a picnic meal that might be a different story....

I've found cargo shorts work well for smuggling in several pieces of Bojangles chicken. Then you can even eat on the coasters. Drumsticks work best, as they're easier to hold when you hit an inversion. :D

Just kidding, obviously :P

Last year on my regular visit in October, the only food I got was a loaded funnel cake and it was worth it. I expected to not finish it and throw it away but about 15 minutes later I was licking the paper plate.

Otherwise, I rarely if ever eat at Carowinds. I usually eat going in and coming out, and if I must eat during my trip, I get Chik-fil-a. I wont' even complain about pricing, it's the quality of food that really makes me not buy.
