General Carowinds discussion

Ok, I go to coasterbuzz.com a lot just to see whats going on around the world...I do not recall seeing anything on there about Carowinds grand opening and talking about our Intimidator nor do I recall seeing any pictures. However, if you go to now, it has KD and I-305 all over it and about the opening of I-305 and yea. May I ask what the deal is? I think a lot of people would take a Hyper over a Giga anyday...but then again...thats just me...

305 is more interesting to the coaster enthusiast world because it is more unique. Our Intimidator is awesome, and possibly even the better ride (can't make this judgment yet for myself), but it's not that much different than Behemoth and Diamondback, not to mention the numerous other speed coasters B&M has built over the last decade. Everyone pretty much knows what they are doing to get with Intimidator whether they have been on it or not. I-305, not the case. Plus, now that it has opened, there seems to be even more to discuss. The absurd lift hill speed, the blacking out in the first turn, the way it runs through the course at a crazy speed.

As for the national news, I'm not sure how accurate that is. I have seen Intimidator on a lot of national publications and news shows. I would not be surprised if 305 is getting more coverage, though, simply because of its height. Intimidator is the 8th tallest coaster in North America, and I-305 is the 5th, but more importantly, it breaks that elusive 300 foot barrier. It's also closer to the DC media market.

yeah I saw the cnn ireporter thing on intimidator. It wasnt cnn doing an expose' per say but the guy who called the coaster "caroline cobra" uploaded. Sometimes you cant just want for the news you gotta make the news.

mmmmmmmm...... :D make the music huh? I should come up with a new illusion (for most people that don't know me, I'm a magician/illusionist) I should make the our Intimidator disappear appear and reappear in my back yard....that would draw the media...i'm very sure!

Anyways, I just don't know I mean when Behemoth and Diamondback everybody was making a big deal....and now Carowinds gets one and its like (so what) but yet ours is the tallest and (i think longest) B&M Hyper built.

There are a few topics about it at Buzz. 2 trip reports by your's truly are there as well. But I wouldn't use CBuzz as a guage as to B&Mtimidator's popularity as opposed to Intamindator's. Heck, Putz is already saying that 305 would be the best coaster IN THE WORLD if not for the restraints, and he's heralding it as amazing. And that's fine, but Putz really doesn't get out and ride a lot of coasters, and if you read his blog, he honestly believes Millie is incredibly popular outside of Buzz, and that its one of the greatest things ever. It's a fun ride, but it's not THAT great. So I don't put stock into any of his opinions on rides and parks.

Well, Dude almost got it right, he did say US first ;).

Isn't it funny that 9 of the top 10 tallest coasters in the world are either in Japan or the US?
