General Carowinds discussion

The rides at Busch Gardens Williamsburg at night are totally crazy. Especially Big Bad Wolf when it goes down towards the water. Apollo's Chariot was awesome at night too.

I don't know if I've ever rode anything at Carowinds during the night hours. I might have to finally do that sometime...

Carolina Cyclone is pretty good at night - the tunnel is pitch black and quite fun.

Everyone who can simply MUST get Scarowinds night rides on Top Gun. I don't know why, but it simply kicks, rocks, etc. then. It's faster to where it hardly slows on the station hop, and the batwing and flat spin are insane. I know it's not just an illusion of running faster that you get on some coasters at night, I've ridden it enough to know that it's actually running a bit faster than usual. I don't know if they put new wheels on it then, speed up the lift, or if it just likes the cold October air for some reason.

I hate spending extra $$ as much as anyone, but I've yet to feel cheated out of a Scarowinds admission. The halloween stuff is usually pretty decent, some of it pretty good - and if you go on the first or second Friday they're open you get virtual ERT on the coasters - all of which are fun at night. It's not quite as good as having the park open later during the summer, but at least we have a chance to get plenty of night rides sometime.

Totally agee Ken. I reluctantly went to my first Scarowinds in 2003. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect and didn't like the idea of paying $20 for a ticket. But, I got 2 free tickets from a friend who couldn't attend and ended up having a fantastic time. Now I know what all the hype was about. It's really THAT good and I will surely go again in '04. The park was very crowded though but the lines to everything seemed to flow pretty good.

And yes! Top Gun was running full steam! There's nothing like good night rides on a great coaster. TR, Cyclone and Goldrusher also offer exciting night rides.

The only problem with Scarowinds is that you have a park full of hyper 16-year olds running around knocking over trash cans.

Other than that, I think PC's Halloween event is one of the better amusement park Halloween events out there. One of the Haunted Houses was very comparible to IOA's. :)

I agree. I too wish Carowinds would stay open till like 11 or 12.
