Wouldn't that be it's height??

Because of the hilly landscape of that area, the drop is 144'. The lift hill height is 113', which is what is used to determine the statistical height of a coaster by the majority of experts. If you go to RCDB you will see the correct stats for the coaster.

The CORRECT stats from RCDB....

Roller Coaster: Afterburn (2008 to ?)
Top Gun - The Jet Coaster (1999 to 2007)
Amusement Park: Carowinds (Charlotte, North Carolina, USA)
Classification: Roller Coaster
Type: Steel - Inverted
Status: Operating since 3/20/1999
Make / Model: Bolliger & Mabillard / Inverted Coaster / Custom
Designer: Ing.-Büro Stengel GmbH
Maps: Bing Maps (Satellite) · Google Maps (Satellite)
Capacity: 1380 riders per hour

Length: 2956'
Height: 113'
Inversions: 6
Speed: 62 mph
Duration: 2:47
Elements: Loop
Immelmann
Zero-G Roll
Batwing
Corkscrew

Trains: 2 trains with 8 cars per train. Riders are arranged 4 across in a single row for a total of 32 riders per train.
Restrictions: Riders must be 54" or taller to ride.

Etymology: Initially, Carowinds had plans to theme this coaster after the movie, Godzilla. But the movie had little success, so the park instead themed the coaster after the movie Top Gun and gave it the name Top Gun - The Jet Coaster

Again, the turnaround is taller than afterburn. hence 'The first 3 hills on intimidator are taller than any other coaster in the park...

Yes there is no denying what rcdb says, anyone can go there and get stats for coasters all over the world. Are they the correct stats? Maybe or maybe not. But from the top of the lift hill directly to the ground below it is 144 feet tall. From the station to the top of the lift 113 feet tall. I would not think the initial drop is 144 feet as it doesn't go all the way to the ground. But what do I know?

This has been talked up before:
" http://www.accessmylibrary.com/article- ... l-s-c.html
"Not the stairs people creep up while waiting in line. The stairs that stretch about 11 stories high. The ones made of see-through metal grates where the wind blows high above Interstate 77, and the planes fly low.

But as the dawn sky fades from black to gray then blue, there's Bobby Nivens, racing up those stairs, crossing a catwalk and bounding back down.

"I don't pay any attention to the height," said Nivens, 48, standing beneath the 113-foot peak. "It's pretty up there to look around." "

Carowinds.com as of late 2000, the TG:TJC page:
"Highest Peak 113 feet"

Word of advise for newbies, When The NUT knows he is right, he will go to ANY lengths to prove it. I dug through 13 pages of Google News Searchs, and atleast 10 pages from Wayback Machine."

Afterburn is 113 feet tall, point blank. Besides, the height of a roller coaster isn't important.

Maybe someone can get that dude who scaled intimidator that night to scale top burn and drop his measuring tape to put this all to rest.

Can we all at least agree that this much is correct?

That makes perfect sense, but I think the 113' is the correct stat to use just because that's how high the actual lift takes you up. Otherwise Boulder Dash would have a lift height of about 3 feet if we went by how high the track is off the ground before the first drop.

Yea, I do believe that they are going by something to do with the ground to the top of the lift.
