Actually, I wanted to make this a Ricochet and Afterburn new color in 2011, but I did not have room in the subject line. What is everybody's opinions on new colors or these two rides? I could see ricochet in a blue color, and to be honest I am too scared to imagine Afterburn in different colors, the only colors I think would look sweet are black track with silver supports. What do you think?

Afterburn looks amazing with its Silver/Blue job; it just needs a fresh coat. If any major changes were to happen to it I would say someone should be fired.

Ricochet on the other hand definitely needs brightening up to go with Cyclone's new colors. To what is another question entirely. It should be "different" than Cyclone.. without "clashing."

^ Agreed 100% about Afterburn. The ONLY problem with it's paint is that's it's peeling and fading in spots. The color scheme is perfect as is.

When the paint was in better shape, this was quite simply one of the best looking steel coasters in existence. I loved entering at the South gate and just looking at this ride as I walked into the park.

That is why I said I am scared to imagine afterburn with new colors, I am happy with just a touch up or i they sand primer it and start over with the silver and blue. Maybe vortex and ricochet will get new colors next.

One of my female friends said they should paint it lime green, what should i do with her? I was thinking about burning her at the stake for that.

Afterburn should stay the colors that it is. Ahh and the memories of coming in the south gate. It's SO dead now. I miss coming in the south gate with the keyhole photo people trying to take your pic, the smell of funnel cakes, seeing the Whirling Dervish running with a bunch of people screaming on it, hearing the Wild Bull making the bull noises, etc. The south gate is so beyond dead now it's heartbreaking.

I think that since the Sign is silver and blue, they will keep it the same colors. However, i would not be surprised if the painted the trains or the supports orange...

If they were to paint it new colors, i would like to see black track spine with orange supports and rails and blue trains. That would at least fit the signage just enough.

It is a paint job, it isn't the end of the world. All paint does is make the ride's appearance, I care far more about the ride than what it looks like. They could paint Afterburn, the most god-aweful colors and I would still ride.

I'm happy with Afterburn's colors. But it does need some new paint, you can really see the rust on the rails now. But what I think they need to improve first is the station. The inside looks pretty bad right now, especially by the entrance. The ceiling there has been ripped off or just peeled off or something. You can see the insulation inside and it just looks ugly.

I say they just touch Afterburn up a little bit. It really needs a new coat. Ricochet on the other hand, would look amazing with dark blue track and yellow supports. Well, to be completely honest, the park needs a green ride, terribly. When I say green, I mean paint. The same blue yellow and red rides through out the park is really bland. I think the park should vary just a little bit more.

I think afterburn needs a full coat, a bit more than just a touch up (its been around for 11 years so I think its time...) I agree that ricochet needs a new paint job as well and you are right about we need a green ride or some other colors. They need to paint scream weaver and they need to make every other car a different color such as yellow and black or whatever (not saying that should be the colors), which I think that is already what it is  I think that ricochet would be awesome with a paint job like cyclone, with different sections different colors... I just dont know what would look good. I say Afterburn will definately be painted and ricochet, and of course vortex may as well. Maybe thats what will happen next year is a lot of TLC to some of the existing rides and probaly either a new family ride, or hopefully a thrill ride. Plus we all know they will be hard at work ripping up the pavement to make way for the new pavers as well so looks like the off season will be slammed full... Maybe they will be hiring for some off season help.
