Jay mentioned starting this thread a while back, so I thought I'd get things rolling with a look back on Intimidator's progress from last year. What a difference a year makes. That and cleaner Skytower windows..






















I have to admit, I'm a sucker for before and afters; it's a great way to observe park history and progress. I may have some more to add later from other areas of the park, but I'm hoping the regulars on here (with content older than mine) can contribute.

Technical note: I was able to pair these in photoshop, but is there BBCode for placing images larger than 240 x 180 pixels side by side?

I don't know anything about BBCode, so will have to wait on Jonathan to be sure. If I went in there I'll probably end up breaking something. I won't be pairing anything, so my few won't look half as good as Wormy's.

Thanks for starting this up Wormy. This is all I can find for right now (Intimidator-wise), but I WILL be at the park tomorrow so hopefully I can get some better matches.

that picture of the train reminds me to ask, did they do any kind of modification to the train tracks? I dont remember how long it was before so I didnt know if anything was changed, it did seem shorter though. My kids like to ride it and I like to watch intimidator while on it...

Yeah it did get shorter by a lot..

Interesting, I dont ever remember discussing the train being re-done or anything, oh well. I thought maybe it got shorter... They need a transport ride that goes all around the park, just to save on walking, maybe a charilift style ride or something...

Carowinds used to have a Monorail.

Or maybe a trolley. That would be very unique. Maybe going from the main entrance to where Hurler is? That wouldn't be TOO out of theme for the most part...

What happened to Carowinds old Trolley? Did they scrap it?


What they really need though is some transportation from the main gates to the water park. Either that or add another entrance for the water park (that was mentioned in a post quite a few months ago).

I really don't see Carowinds putting in a transport ride like mentioned above (again) any time in the near future. It is NOT that big of a park. You can walk around the park via the main path in about 15 minutes (or less if you are walking fast). This was even more evident when they put in Borg/Nighthawk and opened up that bypass avioding the kids area. However, if the park were to say double in size I could see that as something worth having.

Yea, thats what I figured as well. The park isnt really big enough.. Just the idea of riding instead of walking is great lol.. It is good execise going around the park though so oh well. I am down with more flat rides or whatever they have in store for us..

Yea, I know. Unfortunately it was gone the first year I went, I think some of the supports were still up, I am not sure. That was like 1994 I do believe, or maybe 96 because Hurler was new..... What would be really cool for before and after would be commercials....
