Well another week flew by and today I decided to take my daughter to the park for a couple of hours. Once again I had to spend the day in the kiddie park so I wont really post all the rides etc, but we did ride pretty much every kiddie ride, including woodstock express 2 times. The weather was great today, no sun so it was very tolerable. In the morning hours there were no lines so we got right on some of the kids rides but as the day grew on the crowds grew as well. They even had SP parking half coned off for buses, must have been some kind of school events today, I have never seen so many buses. Luckily, most of these people were not in the kid park...

Here are some pictures for those of you who wonder about the crowds on Friday, IMO go on a sunday or go early or late on a friday...

Lucky you were in Planet Snoopy. Cwinds was so ridiculously packed yesterday it was crazy. I usually go on Sundays and figured the Sunday crowd was like the Friday crowd... WRONG. even the Cyclone line was to the sign. Drop Zone was a 20 minute wait, Nighthawk was at the sign, Afterburn was to the sign, I was like Jesus! Had a good time though and I was one of the last Intimidator trains after the park closed in the pouring rain, felt like needles and I was SOAKED!

Well I hope you guys get your visits in tomorrow. It seems the crowds will just continue to pick up. We expect next weekend will be crazy.

Why?

  • Memorial Day weekend. Everyone and their brothers and sisters are off from work and school that day. Also bring a friend for $19.99 (Gold/Platinum Passholders).
  • Military Appreciation Days
  • JOYFEST!
  • And the weather.com 10-day forecast is calling for SUN SUN SUN. Yes, I know its a little early, but look at the crowds this past Friday and today with the threat of rain.

nice to know that you were one of the few that waited it out on friday! I was working up there on friday as opposed to my usual workings at nighthawk.

I am thinking about it Blue Moon, I will most likely be there! I believe you guys are right about next weekend being packed..... Plust the water park opens as well.... I will probaly go next week to the waterpark (after memorial day) I will be out of town, thats why I will most likely go tomorrow to get a few more rides in on Intimidator! I cant believe the lines were that big, thanks for all the follow ups! I didnt go past the sky tower, so I didnt see the majority of the crowd. I knew it was crowded though because of all the buses, when I got to the park I didnt know what the cones were for, now I know :P What was the big event goin on? Was it Education Days or something? I did see some guy carrying what looked like a model of a water slide....

I haven't been working Fridays lately, so I honestly couldn't tell you. But I know there were/are a series of education days so that is probably it.

Yea, I am thinking it was. I think I also saw some people playing instruments, so maybe it was a band competition or something as well? Oh well. I really missed going today, I just didnt feel like it cause i got a cold or alergies or somethin.... But I have been looking at the webcam and it looks pretty crowded anyway so... Oh well next week!

I made the mistake of going Friday (5-21) after work. The webcam doesn't show the season pass lot which happened to be packed to the gills with school buses.

Once I got inside, the place was just a zoo. Kids running in every direction. Line jumping on Intimidator was out of control. Groups of kids would enter the single rider line which took them all the way to the stairs, then they would cross over into the "non-single-rider" line. I witnessed this multiple times during my waits in line. A higher, non-crossable divider between the 2 lines would solve that. For just a moment I had a fleeting thought of the armed line guards at Great Adventure back in the 90's. Yes, the NJ, NY crowds were pretty rough and I am not kidding, they stationed guards with guns on platforms over the que lines to prevent line jumping. (I am not suggesting that for Carowinds, btw).

I got 2 good rides on Intimidator before the rain hit and everyone scattered like they were going to melt or something. Kinda funny.

I joined a friend there today (Sunday, 5-23) and it was a totally different scene. The park was not what I would call crowded all day. Max wait on Intimidator was 5 minutes. No line jumping that I saw. Rode just about every coaster and a few flats and had a great time. Dispatch on Vortex was painfully slow. It took forever to get going, and then we sat on the brakerun for 5 minutes.

No more Fridays for me, at least until schools out, lol.
