Has anyone tried The Intimidator Dog from the food stand that sits near the Dale Earndhart car?

Just kidding, obviously :P

Well, the security obviously didn't notice the grease spots coming thru your pockets. At least you would know ahead of time if your food was laced with metal! LOL

Carowinds is an EASY park to Tailgate in or spread a blanket in the shade by the amphitheatre outside the gates. We bring stuff in a cooler and take a break part way thru the day to eat lunch out, then leave for a quick dinner off park. You can get to a bunch of cheap fast food places within 5-10 mins. If you have a season pass, that's your best bet.

Much nicer landscaping for picnicing on the grass than kings dominion, which is all asphalt

Is there a place at Carowinds to get some great Carolina BBQ? I'm from up north and rarely ever go to NC/SC, but I do love the bbq down there. I'll be making my 1st Carowinds trip in June.

I don't think there is BBQ in the park but there are places around Charlotte, NC that will have you wanting more. Hickory BBQ on North Tryon is very good. They cook over and still grill opened flame all day long. Yummy! Just the smell alone will pull you inside the building. They make homemade slaw as well. I've always eaten on the go but one day I'll have to eat inside. They have a pretty neat country & western atmosphere with widescreen TVs.

Thanks man! I'll have to get one. I also want to try the park lemonade, and the milkshakes at Juke Box. I will be making a day in June to play in the park and eat & drink. I can't get enough of the giant Icees at "Mix It Up."

I'm pretty sure Outer Hanks still has BBQ, but if you want REAL Carolina BBQ, you'll have to venture out of the park

Outer Hanks in Carolina Boardwalk used to sell BBQ sandwiches, I didn't notice if they still do when I ate there earlier this season.

Hmm, just realized I never gave Outer Hanks a "shout out" after eating there last month. Their fish was still extremely good, and they were doing fresh potato chips instead of fries, which were also good. It was $13 or something with a drink, but the portions were quite generous on both the fish and the chips. I ate here pretty often for a number of years but haven't been in the last few years so was very glad to see it was still just as good as before.

Gotta give it up to Country Kitchen for those awesome smoked, turkey legs.
I had one last Saturday and couldn't finish it it was so big - a meal within itself.
I also tried their potato wedges which were also good eating.

P.S. Why do people stare when you're eating a turkey leg?
