Ok time for some edumakashun about Carowinds and the number of roller coasters at the park.

Carowinds has 13 coasters. Do you know how many parks in the US have more than 13 coasters? Unless I'm forgetting something, there would be a grand total of 4 - Cedar Point, Kings Island, Kings Dominion, and Six Flags Magic Mountain. There's a handful that also have 13. So Carowinds is not in any way shape or form lacking in coasters. Ok, many of them are short and not exactly world-class, but they're there.

And for the bonus fact of the day Carowinds now ranks #2 in the world in number of inversions, behind only SF Magic Mountain. The park must have moved up when SF Great Adventure recently removed Scream Machine. Gotta love RCDB for keeping a running tally of this kinda thing.

Obviously there won't be a new coaster in 2011, but for the future, there are a few things that I think would be cool to see.

First off, as everyone as said in one fashion or another, a flat ride (in my opinion, which has changed, a Screamin' Swing) would be perfect for the grass in front of Intimidator.

Second, a Skyscraper ride to replace Screamweaver.

Third, get an army of men with chainsaws and flamethrowers to take down Hurler, and then take your pick of any type of Intamin coaster. There's a TON of land to work with on that footprint, and I'm pretty sure Intamin could build something spectacular on that land. Not to mention Carowinds could really use a launched coaster (which could also be Mack, Premier, or Maurer Sohne). And if we were feeling ambitious, a good modern wooden coaster wouldn't be bad there, either, although the GP would still think it was Hurler (because we all know how smart they are).

Even a themed Euro Fighter would rock (especially on Nighthawk's current footprint).

NO Top Spin. NO floorless. NO more Vekoma.

If we were to go with another B&M, might as well build a dive machine. I would say one of their new "4D" style trains, but that's thinking a bit too far ahead. In fact, I'll just go right ahead and say that this park needs something other than another B&M. Shake it up a bit!

I personally would like to see additions in our coaster count not a replacement.

I am actually one of the very few that like Hurler.

Yeah track like "Cyclone" isn't made anymore so yeah...

I would love to see cyclone get similar trains like cobra's to get rid of the annoying head-banging. Unfortunately, Arrow Dynamics no longer exists so I don't think we will ever see new trains on cyclone. That is unless they order trains from Vekoma and stick them on cyclone, assuming they will fit on it (the track looks almost identical). It is unfortunate that carowinds staff can not "try on" cobras train on cyclone during the off season, and I do not think Vekoma will like that idea.

Vekoma used to buy their trains from Arrow, so most likely if the Cobra-style trains wouldn't fit directly on the track Vekoma could easily modify them to do so. And they'd probably do so if asked, as they'd be making money off the sale of the trains. I doubt CF wants to spend the dough, though.

they dont need to replace hurler its not been there as long as thunder road but they still need to keep both wood tracks and carowinds still has a 2 coaster contract with B&M..

^Age has nothing to do with wooden coasters. Right now they're in the middle of rehabbing Thunder Road, it's not going anywhere. Hurler's ridership is horrible these days and it's one of the roughest rides in the park. Nobody would complain about it being torn down, especially if something REALLY good took its place.

And I'm glad someone your age (can't be older than 13) knows about contracts that Carowinds "has" with manufacturers.

I dont really mind the hurler, I think its a good little wooden coaster. Now when I rode it last time with that stupid trim, its not as good but its still tolerable. You say the ridership is low, but everytime I go on a saturday the entire station is filled... so I dont ride. I guess its just on busy days the hurler gets the attention it deserves. Yea I wouldnt mind it being torn down and get something better, but I wont complain if it sticks around.... I dont see it going anywhere in the near or distant future...
