Canada’s Wonderland takes excitement to new heights in 2011, with the addition of WindSeeker – a 30-storey swing ride. Towering high above the Park, WindSeeker will ascend 301 feet (91.7M) and spread its metal arms, swinging riders at a 45-degree angle at speeds up to 50 kilometers per hour. WindSeeker will feature 32 two-person swings that will provide riders with a sensational feeling of weightlessness as their feet dangle at heights never experienced before at Wonderland.

At only 5 million a pop, it's no wonder they might put this in all their parks.

Knott's has thier announcement on their site. Same thing, but they're converting their sky tower (Boo!) to this. Decent addition, though, for the most part.

While I wouldn't mind getting one in 2012, I really hope they don't take out the Skytower. I hate that it looks like Knott's tower is gone. Never got to go up and take pix from it.

301-foot-tall swing ride to send adventure seekers soaring
If you think riding Drop Tower at Kings Island is a thrill (and it is – riders enjoy a breathtaking view of the region as they ascend toward the sky, then take a 26-story freefall at 64 mph), wait until next year!

Kings Island will continue to change the landscape for thrill seekers in 2011 with WindSeeker, a 301-foot-tall tower that will spin riders 30 stories above the park. Seated in two-person swings that will allow their feet to dangle, riders will slowly begin rotating in a circular motion as the swings ascend the tower. At the top, the swings will reach speeds up to 30 mph, flaring out 45 degrees from the tower. WindSeeker will accommodate 64 riders (32 swings) per ride cycle.

"The addition of WindSeeker reflects our commitment to providing our guests with world-class thrills, fun and fantastic family entertainment," Kings Island vice-president and general manager Greg Scheid said. "Soaring 300 feet above Kings Island will provide an exciting ride experience for our guests."

WindSeeker will be located in the Coney Mall section of the park near the Vortex ride exit.

The $5 million ride is manufactured by Mondial (pronounced mohn-DEE-ahl), a 23-year-old Dutch-based company. Riders must be at least 48 inches tall to ride and will be secured with individual over-the-head lap bars with interlocking seat belts.

WindSeeker will make its debut when Kings Island opens for the 2011 season in the spring.

Yea, I wonder what in the world that is for? Maybe kings dominion is getting a 400ft tall version, I thought for sure the one CP was going to get would be 400ft, but oh well. Interesting that a lot of parks are getting this ride. I say take out the yo yo and give us one I dont want to see our sky tower get transformed into this either, that would suck.

Hell, please just take out the Yo-Yo. That was a complete bust. Without it swinging, its a complete waste. Put a Windseeker there and use the FX theatre area too. That whole area is just screaming for something.

Don't think it'll be 400 feet. Maybe about the same-ish size as Millennium, though.

I definitely agree. I rode Yo-Yo once in '08 and was not thrilled at all nor compelled to ever get back on just for the heck of it. They could move it to Planet Snoopy (since it's way too tame and they don't want to just scrap it) and put one of these in there.
