Three employees were robbed at gunpoint when two armed men broke into Six Flags Discovery Kingdom after the park closed Sunday night, Vallejo police and a park spokeswoman said.

The employees were attacked just before 11 p.m. as they walked through the park, collecting cash from various stations, Sgt. Herman Robinson said.

"They were near the Medusa photo area when they heard rustling in the bushes and suddenly two armed men ran toward them," Robinson said. "They ordered the employees to get down on the ground and they stole a backpack containing the proceeds from the collection."

The suspects, both black males in black hooded sweatshirts and masks, appear to have broken a lock on a fence to get in and escape with an undisclosed amount of cash, Robinson said.

No guests were in the park when the incident occurred and the employees were not injured, park spokeswoman Nancy Chan said.

"Vallejo police were on scene and are conducting a thorough investigation in tandem with park security staff," Chan said. "We are absolutely reviewing our practices" to prevent this from happening again, she added.
