Have any of you guys been to Plaza Fiesta in front of Carowinds? I've seen some pictures of the inside, and it looks pretty interesting. What's your take on it?

Apparently they're moving into Eastland Mall by 2011...

Yes, for a long time back in april/march I took my daughter up there once a week. My kids love it. The slides are pretty fun (went down them with my daughter). I am actually planning on having my other daughters b-day party there in November :D Its a very good price, and the kids love it. Theres also some restaurants so you can eat etc and an arcade to play games, if you like games.

The mall is know to be a Spanish hangout but open to all people. There are quite a few Spanish venders and I find the people to be friendly. I enjoy it every time I go. A great place to go if you want to try different Spanish snacks and fast-foods. I'd like to go to the Spanish circus (In English & Spanish I'm told) the next time they bring their tent to the Plaza Fiesta parking lot.

The owners have placed their names down to own the old Eastland Mall to create the same type atmosphere, but they have defaulted on their Plaza Fiesta loan, which put's their new ownership of Eastland in jeopardy. All of this has made local news stories this week and they are keeping us posted.

What an interesting post. Thank you Graham.

I actually posted a "mall trip report" last year. Link- http://www.carowindsconnection.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2663

An update on the helicopter rides which were mentioned in the thread, by my next visit there was no sign of them even being there. No sign, no helicopter, no people, nothing. I would love for them to return. :?

Me and my friends ALWAYS walk 2 plaza fiesta when we go 2 carowinds so we can eat lunch without paying "carowinds prices". It is a lot of fun and it helps me get extra crdit in spainish class

So, how about Carowinds buys this place...tears it down...builds parking deck to make room to double the park for 2012 :)

OK, just to get the story straight: It is NOT moving to Eastland. Eastland will become another center like it. The company who RUNS Plaza Fiesta (but does not own it) OWNS Eastland and is looking to make it PF-like. It's another company that actually owned PF and was foreclosed on.

So Plaza Fiesta isn't moving though, right?

No. It's not going anywhere. It's going through the same crap the Epicentre is.

Fantastic. Thanks for the pictures, Wormy. That's nothing like I was expecting it to be, we've always driven past it without a second thought.

For those of y'all that have been there, where are some good places to eat?

I think you meant to thank Jay for the pics. I was kicked out of the place once for taking some of my own, but that's another story.

From their website, here are the food court options. Be adventurous, it's all good:

ROASTING OVEN: Peruvian Restaurant
LOS PAISAS: Colombian Restaurant
PUNTA GALAPAGOS: Ecuadorian Restaurant
CHINA KITCHEN: Chinese Restaurant
TONY'S PIZZA: Pizza, lasagna
BRAVO: Greek Restaurant
LA DULCERIA: Mexican Candy Store
CAFÉ FIESTA: Ice Cream, International coffees, and might I add, smoothies.
CHURRO STATION: Churros, weekend breakfast.
CORNER SPORT BURGER: Fast Food restaurant
LA POBLANITA MARKET: Mini Market

My favorite, LA POBLANITA TAQERIA, Authentic Mexican Taquerua. Tacos with cilantro and onion, with a side of radishes.

Oh, and SUBWAY. They serve sandwiches.
