General Carowinds discussion

Great time @ Scarowinds last friday, will likely go again this friday. I have never seen it so crowded on a friday @ scarowinds, must be intimidator bringing in the crowds? If you go to scarowinds, I would say expect large lines, but dont worry about it, the lines move fairly quickly. Why go to Scarowinds for the haunted mazes if you arent going to wait for them anyway? Oh well, I had a great time and defex wasnt that bad...not 2 stories like we were hoping but it was fun..

Yea, I didnt even know they did Scarowinds on sunday until the day I went, I guess they do it the last few weeks or something on sundays? Oh well, I would go on a sunday, but my daughter has school on monday, and grandparents all have to work, so it makes it hard to find someone to watch the kids. Oh well, I can deal with the crowd, I guess...

I ended up not going last weekend due to not feeling like spending the gas money (stupid bills!), so I may go this Friday or Saturday as well. Need to get one more visit in before the end of the year.

I would say DO arrive early as the parking lot fills up quick. I dont know if there are any "DO NOT'S" or not, except do NOT dress up as they wont let you in of course... I would say even if the line looks incredibly long, just get in it and wait if you want to go through the maze, dont waste time trying to decide if you want to wait or not, if you are going for the mazes, then do them! As far as ride ops dressing up, I only rode Intimidator when I went and they had some red & black stripes painted on their faces, thats about the extent of it... Not sure about all the other rides. Hope this helps...

I went to Scarowinds last night for the first time ever. I went with a large group of college friends who unfortunately decided to go on a Saturday despite my warnings of an ungodly large crowd from hell. So we get there two hours later than opening because of complications the females on the trip caused. There was a line to get off the exit on the side of the interstate. It took about 20 minutes to park after we pulled in past the sign. Scarowinds was pretty cool I was curious to what the park was going to be like on the inside because I've never been to a halloween event at an amusement park. Unfortunately this was the most crowded I've experienced in an amusement park. My only goal by the end of the night was to ride Intimidator and get my credit for it. It was the first thing we did and the line ended probably about 100 feet from the entrance bridge but we braved the wait which wasn't too long, because of the amazing people-eater Intimidator was. We got assigned to the fifth row and I got an outside seat. I would give Intimidator a favorable review but it didn't give me as much airtime as Apollo's Chariot has but I only rode it once in the middle of the train. After Intimidator we went to Defex which was interesting and I learned amusement park haunted mazes were different from what I expected with loud rock music and strobe lights everywhere which sort of killed any suspense I had. I like the pile of toys monster cause I didn't expect him to come up at all. The little doll scharactors were very amusing to have conversations with. After Defex we went to Camp Killauee which was kind of lame. There was no chainsaw guy that I expected cause I heard him from the outside when I was walking past earlier. After that unfortunately my friends wanted to wait for Afterburn which I've ridden many many times and was much more interested in the mazes but we waited forever for it and rode in the very back which I haven't done before so it was more fun. After that we went to the Asylum which was a lot like defex with loud rock music and strobe lights. I believe I preferred it to Defex in the end. Walking out of Asylum I saw we had ten minutes till close so I got the whole group to go to cornstalkers as fast as I could. On the way in front of Nighthawk I probably had my biggest scare of the night I wasn't paying attention and a chainsaw dude just revved his chainsaw right in front of me it was huge oh sh*t moment. Some random dude near us took off sprinting when he saw him. Cornstalkers was kind of lame too the scharactors wanted to go home and some expressed it but I guess that's expected five minutes till closing. There was a random chainsaw dude standing outside the exit and me and my friends convinced him to go after the group behind us that we knew so he did and they ran out screaming. It was a fun night despite the ungodly crowd from hell. We did four haunts, two coasters, and one scare zone which was the playground. I plan to check out Kings Dominions halloween haunt next year.

By the way I'm Chase I live in Radford, VA at Radford University :)

I'm going with a group, so there's no avoiding that. I was wanting to go to Carowinds today because of awesome Sunday October crowds, but it didn't happen.
