Did anyone else notice this? Look at the bracing around the spiral in this photo.

Could it be my dreams of an enclosed spiral on the Goldrusher are finally coming true?
It definately looks like they are getting ready to cover it.

It's always been like that. But It would be really cool if it did get covered.

If they did cover the spirals, They could retheme it to a haunted coaster!! They could add creepy blacklights and ghost figures and stuff to the tunnels!!

Yes, those have always been there so far as I know it. I think leaving the way it is is fine.

Actually, I prefer the way the sun shines down in beams through the structure now. It creates a sunny "strobe" effect through that section of the ride.

Although I do not ride the ride I think it would add to the coaster by closeing it in.

You guys are totally missing it! Yes, I know the old wood tressels have covered the spiral since 1973. Look again, closely, at the NEW wood frame that is being constructed around and above the tressels. This was not there last year.

No, the Goldrusher's first spiral was never covered. I have many pics of the ride from 1973 and up to support that. It was always my hope that they would cover it though. I think the total darkness would really heighten the excitement in that part of the ride. Let's hope that's what they are doing.

Answer:
During an evacuation from the Goldrusher lifts, guest come very close to those areas (ie: between the spiral and the exit of the tunnel). Those "guard rails" would prevent anyone from falling in these areas. Why they are on the inside of the spiral, I'm not sure- probably for consistency. Next time, you may also notice the new stairs from the track to the grounds under the ride (right before you enter the station.) All are evacuation improvements- no "cover" planned for Goldrusher.

This makes me feel disappointed and agitated. A cover would be very stimulating.

I would like it fully covered. But with the wood just like that gives it a good headchopper effect.
