Thrift stores, that's where it's at. :)

I have found name-brand clothes, purses, and shoes at thrift stores. In fact, I know a family that goes to Goodwill every Monday, finds all the big-brand items (which are most of the time brand new with tags still on them), cleans them up if needed, then sells them on eBay. This guy makes enough with this to support his family, which is great. I think it's really interesting what all you can find in these riff-raff stores.

Now that was a very nice thing to say to me. And I thought I was going to be condemned and laughed at for going there. Mr. Collins I'm starting to appreciate you more and more.

I used my new-to-me backpack for the first time for the BobCat game last Saturday night (Feb. 20th). I packed an extra shirt in case I became chilly, and some other items. To my surprise, I found I could pack a lot of stuff in it. I love my new bag! Maybe I'll go back to the Goodwill store before the year is out - when I have some time to dig and hunt. Then I'll feel like a true BobCat. Awesome!

If you need any opinions on PC things, feel free to ask. I work in Information Technology, so I certainly have opinions. :) I have friends with Macs and PCs, and they're both good for what they were intended. While everything I use is Windows based (including my phone), I have used Macs before.

We like thrift stores, too, and take my daughter there to teach her lessons on being frugal. We don't go there as often as we should, but we often find good deals there.

Thanks Arby.
I saw Oprah's giveaway show today and she said she uses her iPad to type up her writings for her magazine, then she gave her whole audience one each.

Question: Can a regular keyboard be attached to an iPad?

^^ I dont know much about apple, i prefer microsoft because its what i have always known and used, but i looked on the apple site and there is a keyboard dock for the ipad available for purchase. Not sure if a usb keyboard would work or not, doubt it if they have some special accessory, they have to make more $$ somehow...

I'm pretty sure that you can only use that iPad Keyboard Dock which retails for $69. I'm sure people can type with them, and the more I think about it, it's probably relatively easy with the screen being so big.

I personally would prefer one of the new dual-core netbooks because that fits more in line with my work and is easy to transport. The iPad is really cool, though. I guess at my age, I don't consider 'cool' anymore. I look more for functionality. :D

I did some searching and discovered that HP has created an eReader called Slate, and it's supposed to do battle competitively with the iPad.

I love all the discounted store TV commercials running right now. Walmart has items in different departments going on sale at different times. It appears they want to keep us in the store all day. Sorry Wally, the money tree only has but so much money on it.

Arby
You are so funny.

Do netBooks come with Microsoft Word installed on them?

Happy Turkey Day Shoppers.
In case you did't know, many cyber stores started their Black Friday sales today and I'm so glad I waited on the deals. I finally order my digital camera, among other things, and it was offered at the cheapest price ever, plus the site threw in a 4BG storage card on the house, along with everything else that came with the camera. I only have two more gifts and I'll pick those up from Walmart.

If you're low on cash and just can't buy extra items right now, don't worry, from now through Christmas there will be sales galore, plenty of time for you to get something for someone or something nice for yourself.

Let the Holiday Shopping begin!!!

I got the Canon SX120. It's 14 MP and can zoom in 14X. Isn't that incredible?
I also like the SX30, also 14 MP but it zooms in 34X. It's bigger and more expensive so I'll have to keep my eye on it as time goes on. Right now I want the smaller Camera so I can take everywhere.

There are over a dozen different manufactures that have, or will soon have tablets to compete with the iPad. I wouldn't say don't get an iPad, but I would recommend waiting a bit to see what you can get for your money.

Netbooks come with a trial of Word installed, but you have to buy Office or Word separately for it on there.

I ordered a Canon sd1300 earlier this week so I will have a small camera I can take with me. I never seem to have the big camera when I need it most.

You are so right about that camera news. No one wants to lug that big thing around with them everywhere. I know they look more professional and are great for when I'm working and trying to give that impression, but most of the time I'm shooting for the shear pleasure of it. My last camera, now dying a slow unglossy death - is the Canon Powershot Pro 1 for $800, right under the Canon Rebel several years ago - felt like a chore when I carried it around on vacations.

You are so right again about the tablets, eReaders, iPads, or what ever their most preferred name will be...
Other companies have entered the fray and they are starting to pop up everywhere under the different titles just mentioned. I've been watching HSN, Shop NBC, and QVC is selling one right now with speakers, a camera, camcorder and a long list of other features including WiFi. It's called the PanImage 7 at http://www.qvc.com. Go there and watch the video. If I were getting one right now, this would be The One for only $130. http://www.target.com is also selling it, but at a different price of course.

Bigger sizes are also coming. I spotted a different one with a 9" screen also at http://www.qvc.com.

I know I said I wasn't going Black Friday shopping but.....I coudn't resist the $1.96 dvd sale at Walmart that started at 12:01AM. I was able to get to 2 different locations here where I live and was checked out on the way back home by 1am and purchased 12 movies I was really wanting between the 2 stores. Funny thing is I went back Friday afternoon around 3pm and most if not all of the ones I bought were still available at the location closest too me. It was still interesting getting out there in the trenches with all them folks about to fight over a few dollars in savings....lol

Now that's a nice camera you ordered. I read about it. I see that Amazon.com is giving away a free memory card with that camera purchase also. Good ole Amazon.

I'd heard that were having a sale on DVDs. Was it all the movies in the store?
I love movies too. What did you get?
Oh do pray tell...
