We tried both. Yea we don't even bother with it. We were trying because he was literally going crazy and we had such a hard time vacuuming so we thought we would try to get the message across that it was just loud and that's all. Luckily he did good when we shaved his head this past weekend. He hates stuff that makes loud noises.

That is completely horrible what ya'lls instructers did to ya'll. I have never ever heard of anything that absurd before. They could seriously have gotten sued by some angry parents for that mess. So glad that it didn't mess you up. I know of having phobia of things because of traumatic events. I'm emetophobic from the way I was brought up. It's a horrible phobia to have being that coasters are a big passion of mine, and some days my phobia does get the best of me. Especially when I am going to try a new coaster. I have yet to ride Carolina Cobra because I'm terrified that it's gonna make me throw up considering I've heard alot of enthusiast say that boomerang coasters make them queesy. My little sister and mom loved it although my little sister said it made her gray out a bit. It's so funny that the height and speed of coasters don't scare me not one bit I'm more worried if it's gonna make me sick. Like I want to go to Cedar Point but Im terrified to ride Millennium Force or TTD for that very reason. I have never rode anything that goes that high, fast, or as steep of a drop. I haven't even imagined riding I305, but that's also because of the intensity and I also have heart palps.

I would've hated to be that mother to have to live with that guilt for the rest of my life. I hope Ryan (my son) is like me. Unlike my mom though I'm gonna start him on the smaller coasters made for kids his age and not just throw him on a ride like Grizzley first. I was 6 when my mom did that to me. She lied and told me it was a kiddy coaster and I was so excited being my first coaster. We were with a church group so my mom sat behind me and put me and another 6 year old boy from our church in a seat together. He was freaking out before the ride began and I was trying to calm him down and get him excited. Needless to say it's not a kiddey coaster and we both freaked when we started going down that hill and were dunking down in the seats as far as possible. It looked like an empty cart. I have yet to ride that ride again to this day. Even when I got the nerve up at 14 to start riding coasters again I cried when my mom tried to get me on it again. I refuse.

I'm so glad that you have denied people getting on for that reason. It's not fair to the kids for parents to force them to do things that terrify them. I mean being a little scared is one thing but when a parent drags a crying child on something it's completely different. I completely agree with you.

Do you realize we're writing a book here? You're just as passionate as I am about what were talking about. Where did everyone else go? At least they're reading the conversation.

I don't know if this is a phobia or not but I too hate to vomit. I've done better with cleaning up other "chemical spills" at Carowinds as opposed to me actually creating one. The last time I was dreadfully ill (with the flu or some 24 hour virus)I could feel my tummy wanting to do that but I fought all I could to keep it from happening. After a while, it happened anyway and I hated every minute of it! But you know something, I sure felt a lot better and began to wonder why I was trying to fight against my body, which was trying to heal itself in the quickest way possible. It's easy to think of those things after-the-fact. But you know something, I still hate to upchuck. I hate it!

Here's a tip:
Ride your coasters of choice on a very empty stomach and see what happens. You may end up conquering this demon.

Haha yea I know. I'm not sure being the off season this forum has kind of died out. I wish more people would talk about just anything up here. Keep things interesting  . Although this convo has become interesting.

That kind of sounds like me. I have a 3 year old son and when he gets sick I do my best not to panic and I clean him and everything up and clorox EVERYTHING, and then when he gets comfy on his floor pallet I make him I go to another room and have my little panic attack and take my nausea meds just in case  . When I get sick I will hold it and hold it and hold it. Even though I know I would feel so much better if I just did I just can't bring myself to. Like some people I know that say when they start getting that nauseas they will sometimes make themselves sick because they will feel better Im the complete opposite. I will put it off and put it off and would rather be nauseas and miserable than to actually throw up. Which sucks for me because I have a kink in my stomach that makes me feel sick alot, but at least I get nausea meds so I rarely get sick **knock on wood**. That sucks in itself because I live 7 hours from Carowinds and 4 hours from KD so we plan far in advance to go to a theme park and I can't know when my stomach is gonna be acting up. So I have been to KD twice where I couldn't ride anything at all because I was already sick feeling. So I have learned not to eat but like a bite of a rice krispy treat or something before I ride anything. Then I don't eat lunch until after I have ridden all the rides I want to just in case I do start feeling bad after eating.

That's what I do. Especially with Carowinds Intimidator. I start at the ones I'm used to usually Nighthawk, Afterburn, then Thunder Road, Carolina Cyclone, then finally Intimidator. After my last visit though I'm to the point where Intimidator could be my first ride of the day, well after Nighthawk because the line is incredibly long if you put that off. Same with KD I do Volcano, Anaconda, Flight of Fear, Rebel Yell, then Dominator. Then I just do whatever I feel next in whatever order.

We really are writing a book haha. At least 'we' won't get bored this off season  .

Isn't Volcano awesome. If you've done those you can do Intimidator with no problem.
I'm glad you already have the nothing-on-the-stomach trick in action. Good for you!
I see you now live between parks. I thought you were in England?

Well I moved here from Windsor NC in June to be here with my husband who is in the USAF and was stationed here. Im a NC local. I haven't been here long. Just like next summer my husband is getting deployed so I will be coming back to stay in NC again and hit up some more parks. We will be moving to Columbia SC for good in 2013 when he gets out so I'm thinking about season passes then. Only then I want to get the passes where you can go to all Cedar Fair parks. I want to travel to more parks not only Cedar Fair ones.

I love Volcano, but that's one of those only ride once a day kind of rides. We leave early so we can get to the park before it opens and then we run straight to it. After that we typically don't ride anymore because even on a slow day that line is still long and very slow. Which Intimidator are you talking about ours or 305? I've ridden Carowind's Intimidator 8 times now (only went 2 days last season and one of those days was Scarowinds). I absolutely love a good B&M hyper. Although I have only rode 2, the other being Apollo's Chariot. To me ours is a bit more intense than AC. The first time I rode AC I threw my hands up on the first drop no problem (first coaster I was able to do that on), but on Intimidator I didn't get the nerve to do that until I rode it the 4th or 5th time. I had to force myself the first time  . I was clinging to the bottom of my seat and pushing my legs against the restraint I felt like I was gonna fall out and I actually grey out a bit in the back row when I get to the bottom of the first hill. Only for a few seconds though, I have never done that on any other ride.

Yea I have been doing the empty stomach thing since I started riding rides. Then when we finally eat lunch I try to keep it small like a slice of pizza or I share a chicken tender and french fry meal with my mom or sister. Then I wait a couple of hours (usually spend that waiting in line for the rapids) to let my food settle. And I take a nausea pill just in case and then I start small again. I get picked on so bad by my family for my system. But with my phobia everything is a system to me.

^ I read the first comic to the series that covered up all of this seasons episodes and I have to say.... The series is actually better then the comic. I can't believe I am saying the film/TV adaption is better then the literature, but it is. Its surprisingly emotional and almost brought me to tears a few times. My new favorite show!

I got lost with talk of Zombie games. Don't really play any so I can't talk about which ones are best  . I'm still here. Although I could write a book about people sueing people. It is so rediculous. I should post the article I read on CC the other day about CP being sued and it had a list of the cases. I could not believe some of the things people were trying to sue for. This one girl missed a step and broke her foot or ankle and was trying to sue CP for that, and some of the other cases were just as stupid.
