Last Night (Dec 2, 2010) at the Time Warner Cable Arena...
The Trans-Siberian Orchestra was certainly an event to see. This orchestra is known for its rock/opera blend, and by this being a Christmas show was no exception. Not only was it a musical event, it was also a lazer light show with surprising pyrotechnics. The stage was totally painted black but when the runner, twinkle, and spotlights came to life, we were transported into other worlds with music setting the moods. All throughout the performance stylish clear monitors showed hundred's of still and motion graphics as the monitors themselves moved across the stage. Giant fireballs blasted to the rhythm of the music as they danced across the stage and even out into the center of the Arena- where waves of heat could be felt.

Special effects were used all through the show but I must admit, the first half left me a little dry with all of the story telling of the people reuniting for the holidays. But after the story ended and they introduced the performers and started the second half, it was a total up tempo climb. They pulled out every exciting effect they'd brought with them, flying us all toward the climatic crescendo of fog, multi-colored fire, and a shower of sparks along the backstage wall. Man, what a show!

My most memorable moment was the opera song during the second half- performed on a second stage out among the audience - which was similar to the opera song performed in the movie The Fifth Element with Bruce Willis. WOW!

That's great! I can imagine that they are much better than the singing Christmas tree unless that is your thing.

Thank you for your kind words above, by the way. I don't always get a chance to acknowledge everything and I'm trying to keep from posting too much.

Do you think that a 4 year old and 7 year old (girls) would enjoy the charlotte motor speedway thing? I also have an 8 year old nephew and 5 year old neice... Sounds like they may enjoy that...

They certainly will enjoy it. I saw quite a few kids their ages when we were there. This Christmas activity is focused for kids of all ages. Everyone in my family had a good time, and if it were five years ago they still would have had a good time.

As an adult, I have seen better Christmas light displays. However this one was still good. I anticipate that if they get enough support these first couple of years they will continue to improve and expand the displays

Hi Gang,
On December 19, I'll performing in a musical salute to Jesus Christ. This is a free event.
After the show would be a great time to talk to those of you I've yet to meet, without having to cut conversations short to let the next group of thrill riders in.

AT: Event is over now.

Sorry, I won't be able to make it. That is a ridiculously busy weekend for me. I'll be taking the youth around to Operation Christmas Child, their progressive dinner, and the Union County Christmas Bureau throughout the weekend and including Monday.

I'm sure anybody who goes will have a great time!

I will try to make the Charlotte viewing if I can get out there. Did you put up lights at both locations?
Who is that with you in your avatar? Looks like GriffinBoy69?

Thank you. I try to be but don't be fooled. I wish I could have done more area Christmas activities this year but we've been very busy this year.

We'll be at Carowinds numerous times (and on opening day) next year so I'm sure you'll get a chance to meet me and my family.

I'd like to thank everyone for coming out and showing their support for my performance in the 2010 Christmas production today. The show ran just beautifully, and it was great looking out and seeing my fans in the audience.

Again, Thank You All for coming! I was pleasantly surprised to see you!

I love to sing!
