Top ten steel

#1 Kumba - B&M sitdown - Busch Gardens Tampa
#2 Top Gun - B&M Inverted - Carowinds
#3 Raptor - B&M Inverted - Cedar Point
#4 Superman - Ride of Steel - Intamin Hyper - Six Flags America
#5 Apollo's Chariot - B&M Hyper - Busch Gardens Williamsburg
#6 Mindbender - Schwarzkopf looper - Six Flags over Georgia
#7 Millennium Force - Intamin Hyper - Cedar Point
#8 Batman the Ride - B&M inverted - SFOG
#9 Superman Ultimate Flight - B&M flyer - SFOG
#10 Big Bad Wolf - Arrow suspended - BGW

Top Ten wood:

#1 Georgia Cyclone - SFOG
#2 Grizzly - Paramount's Kings Dominion
#3 The Beast - Paramount's Kings Island
#4 Hurler - Carowinds
#5 Blue Streak - Cedar Point
#6 Wild One - SFA
#7 Thunder Road - Carowinds
#8 Rebel Yell - PKD
#9 Swamp Fox - Family Kingdom (Myrtle Beach)
#10 Racer - PKI

#1 coaster overall - Georgia Cyclone. My first ride on it was at night after a light rain, and that was the scariest coaster ride I've ever had in the back seat of that coaster - downright insane.

Carowinds has a decent showing on my list - Hurler was a pretty close #2 to Ga. Cyclone last year, but it ran too poorly most of this year to rate that high again. Thunder Road came through with some really good rides this year, especially at Scarowinds to move up into the top 10 this year.

Although I like several of the other steel coasters at Carowinds the only really impressive one is Top Gun. The more coasters I've ridden, the more impressed with that ride I've become. After being on around 50 steel coasters, I've figured out my favorite types are B&M inverteds, and Top Gun keeps proving itself to be the best of those for my tastes so it gets the #2 spot behind Kumba.

what's the most terrible coaster you've ever ridden? mine's probably one of those stupid 6 ft tall kiddie coasters that go slower than a slug on vacation

I haven't really had time to sit down and think about modifying my lists after the new coasters I rode this year, so this may be wrong, but off the top of my head this should be somewhat accurate:

Steel
1) Superman: Ride of Steel, Six Flags America
2) Millennium Force, Cedar Point
3) Apollo's Chariot, Busch Gardens Williamsburg
4) Raptor, Cedar Point
5) Magnum XL 200, Cedar Point
6) Top Gun: The Jet Coaster, Paramount's Carowinds
7) Phantom's Revenge, Kennywood
8) Superman: Ultimate Flight, Six Flags Over Georgia
9) Hypersonic XLC, Paramount's Kings Dominion
10) Volcano: The Blast Coaster, Paramount's Kings Dominion

Honorable mentions to Mind Bender (SFoG), Tennessee Tornado (Dollywood), and a few others.

Wood
1) Raven, Holiday World
2) Legend, Holiday World
3) Villain, Six Flags Worlds of Adventure
4) Georgia Cyclone, Six Flags Over Georgia
5) Wild One, Six Flags America
6) Son of Beast, Paramount's Kings Island
7) Grizzly, Paramount's Kings Dominion
8) Hurler, Paramount's Carowinds (taking into account more than just this year)
9) Beast, Paramount's Kings Island
10) Swamp Fox, Family Kingdom

I'd probably give some honorable mentions to Thunder Run (SFKK), Big Dipper (SFWoA), Great American Scream Machine (SFoG), and heck with the way it's ran this year, possibly even Thunder Road at Carowinds.

I haven't really composed any Top 10 lists in a long time. Usually, I have a tendency to forget this coaster or that coaster so I just have my usual favourites that I like to talk about. Here's some of my favourites:

If I had to pick a number one steel, it would be Apollo's Chariot with The Incredible Hulk being a very close second. What gives AC the edge was the incredible night rides we got during the preview night of BGW's first ever Howl-O-Scream. It was dark, that third drop was foggy and you couldn't see the track. It was like diving into nothing. The airtime was unreal. We got close to 25 rides in a row. Might have been more. Despite being braked, Montu is still my favourite inverted. Talon comes in next with my opinion of Top Gun changing a lot since last Monday's rides. I haven't felt forces like that on TG in a while. Other steel coasters that I like: Superman ROS (SFDL), Steel Force, Volcano, Raptor, Phantom's Revenge, SUF, Georgia Scorcher, and the Mindbender.

Wood? Phoenix is my favourite followed by The Legend. The Phoenix never phails to deliver the few times that I've been to PPP. Other wood that I like: Swamp Fox, PKD's Grizzly, Raven, MB Hurricane (when it first opened and through much of the second year before it went downhill), Beast, Twister, Silver Comet, Blue Streak at Conneaut, Racer, the double dip on Jack Rabbit, and Thunderhawk. Despite what a few enthusiasts say, I think Predator at SFDL is a very fun coaster. The few times we rode it, I really enjoyed it.

I don't know if I'll ever rank coasters again. But, I'll still have the ones I really enjoy a lot.

I really prefer steel coasters over wooden coasters. I think I'm a little biased becuase I just love Cedar Point so much, so maybe the coasters there may seem a little bit better than they really are...or maybe not...

Well its about time i grace this post with my presence -_- . I feel if your a true coaster guru then you wouldnt classify a coaster in particular order because every single coaster offer different experiences. now if we were to talk about fav. clones then you have an arguement. As for me well.........like i mention earlier, different coasters offer different things. I cant compare TTD to FOF simply because they offer 1) different experiences, 2) different settings, and 3) different purposes.

So to answer the question; my favorite coaster. It was a tough decision but i manage to come to the conclusion that my favorite coasters are....................drum roll please............

the operating ones :D

SBNO came in second simply for the visual orgasm one can recieve from them heh heh heh!!
