Is it just me or were TG and Vortex running faster than they were last year? I would swear that TG went through its course 4-6 seconds faster than last year and Vortex just was a little faster. Might it be that they increased the lift speed on TG or greased the wheels? I really felt that the ride was really running "out of controll" I got this feeling more in the morning than I did in the afternoon.

Also, TR backwards was a whole lot smoother on the return journey with the retracking, you could see the new wood and it really made a difference.

It's not just you. At the exit of the batwing on Top Gun all I could say was Damn! This was the first time I felt the blood rush to my toes on Top Gun and it was as smooth as ever just real fast and wicked.
As far as Vortex it was an awesome sight. The coaster looks brand new from the track, rails and supports to the trains themselves. I took a couple pics of Vortex with the tress in bloom around it to show how good it looks. The ride was sweet and I think time has done her justice.
Thunder Road backwards was great. The entire track was very smooth and fast and some great air time even with the new seat belts.
Never got to ride Hurler as it kept breaking down or for some other reason I could not tell or get an answer on.
Drop Zone was great, as it always is, but the paint on it just made it stand out again.
Scooby Doo was running as normal with fun for those who rode it. And, you know who you are.
All in all the did an awesome job with all the new paint, seats, restraints on all the rides. All the ops were friendly and talking to you while getting you all snug and safe.
Carowinds and Paramount have outdone their selves this year. I knew we were starting a new era and hope this is signs of the future here.

No, but the Hurler broke down alot. I was next in line and then it got stuck on the lift. This was about 1:30-2:00.

and for some of you 2005 frendzoid and WWf will be leaving for boomarang bay posters BOTH!! rides were in full operation today. SO stop looking at the map and thinking that just because it isnt listed in the rides section that its getting the axe!!

I like Frenzoid. It is a heart pounding ride and a body part crusher as the restraintes.

All i know if vortex ran very fast the first day. It went so fast the drop actualy tickel my tummy for the first time ever. It may be because i havent goten on a coaster since the closeing of last season. I know it was faster though. It made my eyes water.

I agree! I thought Vortex gave a much better ride this year! That second drop in the back was terrific. The corkscrew also got me good too! On top of that, it looks great too!! B)

As we say in Korea "Khwang, Khwang!" The vortex being bad. I disagree with you. It is not a good comparison to others.

I agree that the Vortex was kicking *** on opening day. Where you normally get "floaty" at the top of the loop you were pushed into the seat. From the ground you could tell it was going faster through the loop and second hill as well. Hopefully they'll keep it that way .

I also agree that TG is running "faster" this year....it really kicks some butt....but then again, I have always loved a B&M coaster. The line for TG moved really fast too. Kudos on that!

I did not have a chance to ride the Vortex, stood in line for Borg too long.
