General Carowinds discussion

Ok, so I have a question about the Platinum passes. I have never done the season pass before, but this year my sister is going to buy both of us a Platinum Pass so that we can go to KD, and Carowinds as much as we want. Also we want to try to go to Cedar Point and KI since we have never been.

So I was looking on KD's site at their Platinum Pass benefits and they have everyday discounts where you can bring one friend for 25 dollars off at gate general admission. Whereas Carowinds only has certain date bring a friend discounts. Why is that? Also the benefits you get like getting into the park early and waterworks early, does that apply only to the park you purchase your season pass with? If you bring a friend are they allowed to come into the park early with the passholder? I mean that's not a big issue with me because I always get to the park early enough to be one of the first in the turnstiles and get to the ride I want quick enough to be in front. I'm just asking because I'm trying to decide whether it would be better to get the pass from Carowinds or KD, if the benefits are for the park you purchase the pass from, and the benefits are different.

I can't answer any of the 'whys.' I would suggest that you compare the two park's platinum pass benefits as it appears you have and pick the park that will have the best benefits for you.

I didn't think to do that when I bought our platinum passes for 2011 so they are for Carowinds. We are also planning trips to CP, KI and I'm also hoping to squeeze in DP. We'll certainly be to Carowinds many times this year and hope to make it to KD at least twice.

Thanks for your help. Yea I'm thinking of going for KD because they have the everyday discounts and they also have the walk on Wednesdays. This is what it said on the CP site "Platinum Passholders are entitled to any Platinum-level perks at all other Cedar Fair parks." Not sure if that's if you buy your pass from them. That wouldn't make much since though because I'm planning a road trip to KD, then CP, then KI, and back to Carowinds. I am so excited :D . I think I will go with KD for my season pass though. It's alot closer to me than Carowinds as well. Although I do plan to visit both parks on a regular basis I love both.

You're welcome. Ah, yes. I see Windsor is closer to KD then CW. I'm in the Charlotte metro area so I'm only about 30 minutes from CW. It only makes sense for me to get the passes for CW.

Right now we're trying to figure out when to hit KI/CP. At the very latest it will be mid June (hopefully before the crowds pick up.) I've never been to KI and I haven't been to CP since 1987. I'm sure it will be a bit different since then...

Yea we live like 7 hours from Charlotte so when we go to Carowinds we have to drive to my cousin's house in Ashboro the night before, and then drive to Carowinds the next day. Since Ashboro is only about an hour and a half from Carowinds. We live 4 hours from KD so we typically leave about 5 in the morning to get there before the park opens and spend the day at the park. We get a hotel for the night though since we always stay till closing.

Thats when we are planning to hit CP and KI. I want to go the week of June 13 through the 19 and hit all the parks. I already have it planned day by day. I am so excited. Yea I heard the crowds at CP get pretty bad so I'm hoping that it isn't too bad on the weekdays, but being that it's a big tourist park I'm sure it will be packed. Although I'm having a hard time trying to convince myself to get on TTD. I'm not scared of the height or speed it's the chance of a rollback that gets me  . From what I read MF should be a piece of cake after I305.

I'm not a big fan of going backwards down that high of a hill. Rebel Yell scared me backwards  . I don't even do boomerang coasters for that fact. I'm scared it will make me throw up and I have a phobia of throwing up. Funny that roller coasters are my favorite thing to do of all time.

That's funny. We're tentatively planning 6/16 - 6/21 for our trip to KI and CP. I've been keeping everything tentative until I see what ACE and park events are planned for the year.

^ Yea we would be at CP on the 14th and 15th and then KI on the 16th if we went. I have thought about joining ACE, but I think I'm going to wait for my husband to get out of the AF and move back to the States with me before I do that. Since we would be doing the events together.

I sure will..I might bring my computer with me when I go on my trip and do a day by day blog. It has been something I have always wanted to do. I have wanted to travel the US first and hit every park and write a blog of my travels. Then hit some parks outside the States. However it looks like I will get to go outside the States first. In April I get to go to Alton Towers here in England, and then to Lego Land with my son and husband. So I will have to write about that experience and figure out how to share pictures.
