From Screamscape:

(9/25/10) Taking the award for the best news we’ve heard all week comes a great newsflash from Ride Entertainment on their Facebook page. They report that the new Gerstlauer coaster is supposed to feature a brand-new lap-bar only restraint design. A first for a Eurofighter coaster, which is also going to make that beyond vertical first drop as the only one in the world taken with only a lap-bar.

Six Flags over Georgia

I guess they are making up for their mix-up of "firsts"...lol Many I'm sure are going to be pleased to have no OTSR's. It may scare the rest though...lol

I went to Six Flags opening day and found it interesting that they are barely starting on the new coaster. They have the station started and the track going from the station to the lift hill and a little after the lift hill finished. They also have a cool dipping dots building infront off htecoaster. They do have all of the track onsite in a area that is closed and the trains are in the pavillion area behind Superman.
Here are two photos I took.

And what you see here was done in the past week! The park is flying with the construction while there is good weather. I've been told that they are completely on schedule with another 4 weeks left in the construction phase. Then another 5 weeks for themeing and testing.

it's almost like watching the construction of Sky Rocket again and taking to down to a nail biter finish, lol!

Found another video since the other was removed. The quality isn't as good, but you can also visit Screamscape or the parks website where it is available to view as well. Both sites also state the coaster is scheduled to open on May 28th, just in time for Memorial Day.

I was given the opportunity to go to the media preview day for Dare Devil Dive that opened this weekend at SFoG. I wrote a generic blog post about it here.

I think it is a nice addition to their park and I rode it about 30 times that day. Despite the fact that they advertise it as being the first pause element before a beyond-vertical drop in the country, I didn't experience that during any of my rides. Maybe it was turned off.

I was fortunate to be on a train that got stopped at the break run for a few minutes from a minor malfunction. Once they got things going again, we crawled out of that break run and went into the heartline roll. That was awesome and we didn't think we were going to make it through at the reduced speed we were traveling.

It's worth the trip to Atlanta to ride.
