So its finally came! NEW season at Carowinds has officially begun!
So I got to the park today @ around 9-ish and walked to the gate and we waited in line for them to open up. They opened the things at around 9:30 (I think). I got to the turnstile only to get denied goin in (red flagged) so me, and most other that had renewed, had to go stand at the CS stand until they figured it out. They finally got it fixed about 15 min later and we were finally escorted to the turnstiles again and after they re-booted the PC's everything worked. After that, I headed over to Intimidator to meet my friend, since he was able to go in (he didnt renew) so I ended up in the single rider line and on train #2 of the season! He ended up on train 3. So we hit Intimidator once more and then ventured around the park. I mainly just took pictures, we checked out Vortex and rode it. I must say I am not happy with the color scheme, because the burgundy and tan station doesnt match at all with the red and silver intimidator colors. Oh well, I could care less about the colors but I think they made a horrible descision. Anyway, we rode vortex and then headed over to Drop Tower, Hurler, and Cobra. Hurler got some new wood on the drop, which was a big surprise and it kind of made it smooth but those stupid trims at the bottom were still there and hit hard. Cobra was fun as always. After that, we headed toward county fair, of course thunder road was closed so I got some pictures and moved on. THe action theatre was closed but we got confirmation that spongebob is still in there. Yo-Yo was broken. Afterburn didnt get new paint, although the supports looked shiny so maybe they got washed or something? We didnt even ride afterburn. After that we head over to Intimidator again. This time on Intimidator we had to sit on the brakes for around 10min or so because the winds were to high to send a train out. They finally unloaded the one in the station and sent it out empty. Then we headed to eat lunch at the picnic. Intimidator was finally going after around an hr. After that we decided to head out since the winds were still pretty heavy, figured I may go back tomorrow so oh well. I must say, the park was pretty empty for opening day, especially Intimidator. I also thought there would be a lot more pavers and no pavement, but everything still is the same from what I saw. Here are a few pictures from today. I hope everyone enjoyed opening day!
