Haha Dave, that was actually pretty funny! I'd seen that before but forgot about it.

Check this out. Xoom has only sold 100,000 units to this day. Apple sold 300,000 in its first day of sales. I wonder what that's all about? I would have thought the Xoom would do better than that. Let me know if any of you get to try one out.

Remember iBill,
The Zoom tablet has only been released in the USA and it is totally unfair to compare these figures because they are in two totally different categories. Zoom's world launch has yet to be done. Let's be fare about this, the folks at Motorola have tested their first-for-their-company tablet on the US market (which far exceeds iPad 1 on performance and possibly iPad2 because it supports flash), and they've discovered there is a market for their new product - which is fully upgradeable to the up-and-steadily-coming 4G network. Selling $100,000 units within two months is no small feat. I wish my novel would sale like that.

Anywho,
I find it interesting that you asked for an update on the Zoom operations. If you're totally sold out to Apple products, you really don't care how the Zoom functions. Am I right?

I'm "totally sold out on apple products" only because I've found them to be better than anything else on the market. I'm open to liking other products. I've used PC's my entire life until last year when I tried out a Mac, I liked it, therefore I now favor it and use it. Phantomcat, just because I said I liked the iPad doesn't exactly mean I dislike everything else.

I tried out a Roku box today and was completely impressed. Has anyone else tried one of these things out?

I've pondered it before, but my PS3 and 360 can do all of the same stuff (with an extra program running on the PC).

Lanigan
I was nice to meeting you recently.
I hope I didn't freak out your little boy too much by chasing after him. After I did that he was pretty much done with me for the evening. I thought he was playing along with me until he stopped and looked for you comfort. I do apologies for upsetting him.

Years ago, it became software giant, Adobe's desire to go paperless, and campaigned to convince other businesses to do the same by PDFing their important documents. While businesses have slowly adapted to the idea, and I must admit that the latest digital tablet craze isn't hurting the movement a bit, but there will still remain a need for some sort of paper in our world.

What do most people use to wipe up during and after meals and snacks? What do people blow their noses on during certain illnesses? Still not convinced? What do people clean their nasty behinds with after restroom visits? Their e-tablets?

I may be giving you a personal review if it keeps looking sweeter to me. I've already lost sleep with excitement over this unit. Am I in love?

And you know what's so cool about it? With the USB port I'll probably be able to go to the provider of my choice, and plug in their USB Internet-all-the-time gadget, like the ones made for laptops.

Just a quick FYI, the Xoom tablet didn't actually sell 100,000 units, that's how many they shipped. Same for the iPad, they shipped 300,000.

The difference is...the Xoom, while it shipped that many, hasn't sold nearly that many, and there are 100,000 Xoom tablets out there, many of which are still sitting on store shelves. It's to the point that even the CEO of the company admitted that they shipped more than they should have, and havent sold nearly as many as they thought they would.

Try to find an iPad 2 right now ;).

Not that I care either way, the Xoom tablet looks to be a stellar device, even if reviews are tepid. I prefer Apple products simply because I have a Mac and an iPhone, and my stuff just all goes well together. I wish Motorola well.

A guy who works for me got a Xoom and was telling me about it today. He totally loves it and has no regrets getting it.

Just to be fair, he's written some apps for the Droid so of course he leans that way. It's hard to find many unbiased personal reviews for either flavor.

True story man. I guess that's a good business strategy for all of these huge companies - you have to try them ALL out before you find one you like. :D

If all the great tablet makers would stop trying to be the next iPad killer, stop all this competitively pricing with the iPad, but simply price their tabs more affordably so everyone can buy them, more tablets would become a hit. There's room for every great electronic tab. Maybe now Motorola will lower their Xoom's price and start selling more units.

Acer has launched its new 10 '' PC tablet this weekend with detachable keyboard port. I'm not really interested in this one.

Today at Walmart, I got a chance to play with a new Motorola Xoom fresh out of the box. That puppy is smooth and the screen is very responsive to touch. It's a little heavier than I'd want in a tablet but it wasn't unbearable. I sure hope Toshiba's new 10" tab hits the market soon. I've developed a terrible e-itch to play with it as well. The Walmart rep said, "We've had the Xoom for two weeks now," when he opened the box of the demo for the first time. It's sad that the unit still hasn't been placed on display - and was placed back in its box and returned to its hidden place behind iPad display counter. If you visit the N. Tryon, Super Walmart and get to play with it, you may find my fingerprints on it.
