I was just wondering if any one here knows or talks to any of the mechanics at Carowinds. It would be interesting to hear their take on Borg and if they think they can work out the bugs that have plagued it since it was Stealth.
Also, does anyone here know for fact what the problems are or is it just because it is a "prototype"!

I know one of the contractors who worked on BORG. I'll see if he knows anything. It appears we have inherited nothing more than Stealth, with a new color scheme, a new name, and the same problems. I am hopeful they can resolve these though.

Foreseer, do you remember White Lightnin' (1977-1988). It was also a proto-type plagued with problems. We sold it to Gold Reef City in South Africa and from talking to people who have visitied there, it's still troublesome. Although, not all proto-types have been troublesome. Super Saturator has been pretty reliable. They did have to raise the first drop in season 2 to prevent roll-backs, but it seems pretty stable.

I wonder if they had an overview of what was wrong w/ stealth and what they supposely "fixed".

Saturator was raised?!?! Are there pics of the before and after??

Well, here is a picture I took opening year. The exact position where the car is in this picture is where it was raised (bottom of the first drop). If you know the ride well, you can see that the original drop was steeper and dipped about 10 feet lower than it does today. This was the exact point that the cars would sometimes roll back to. Sometimes they just wouldn't make it to the mid-point trim and start rolling back. It happened quite a few times in 2000. I don't have any "after" pictures comparing the difference.

I remember once when super saturator got stuck like in the first drop curves and they had a little crane getting the people off of it. I think that was in its 1st year of operation...

Foreseer, I spoke with a friend of mine who does mechanical and electrical work for Carowinds. He said the problem with BORG has been the drive motor. He said that a newer, better drive was installed on BORG this past Tuesday. Hopefully, this will be the end of the break downs for a while.
