So any ideas of what they can use that for? I could see that, maybe, becoming a new parking lot, then expand the park into the current one, but thats a huge stretch...

Anyone else notice that link says the park is 337 acres as is?

I think so too, otherwise why would they even bother buying that land? If they build the parking lot out there, they will need to have a transportation system to get people to the front gate if it stays where it currently is.

I wonder when this construction will begin on what they will do with this new land.

I know they dont have to do it immediately. In fact I dont expect them to start using the land for at least 3 years from now. This is a long term solution for the limiting space in the park and not a short term one. Interesting to see how Carowinds will be 10 years from now.

true, but I dont think Cedar Fair would have invested the money for the land if they didnt have immediate plans for it. In the next two years, I see the season pass parking lot turned into the main parking lot. Fully Expect to see some kind of hotel announcement by 2014. Heh hopefully they can convince Thirsty Poney to open up down here too.

I expect them to expand the park in the south gate area first. The parking lot behind thunderroad would leave a lot of space for rides.

Also I always wondered why they never fixed those massive potholes leaving sp parking(near I-77). The land wasn't theirs!

Im guessing those are good? I saw one in Sandusky and couldn't stop laughing at the name.

There is only one Thirsty Pony, and u didnt go in? Wow what a loss. man that is the best place to eat in the US. When I went to Cedar POint, the trip was more for Thirsty Pony than it was for Cedar Point.

Not trying to throw cold water on this purchase, but in 2005 Kennywood Park purchased about 25 acres next to its property. To date I dont believe anythings been done with it, although the park was sold a couple years ago.

Buying property in this economy is a smart business move, so by no means does this mean expansion is imminent.
