I was at FK last weekend and was amazed at how crowded it was. I suppose being the only amusement park in MB has it's advantages (although I still miss the Pavilion).
The park was open until midnight Fri & Sat. so we went there around 9pm and stayed until midnight. The Swamp Fox was running faster than any recent memory. Airtime coming off the back turn, in the back seat, could be fatal if it weren't for the seatbelts. Awesome ejector air!
I saw Donnie Sipes, the parks GM, and we chatted for a little while. He said the attendance was actually off Saturday about 40% due to the earlier rainstorm. I never would've guessed. The place was packed! It took 30 minutes of waiting in line to ride ole Swampie. It's been 40 years since I've seen the line for that ride stretch down the ramp and all the way back towards the bridge crossing the canal. The slow loading process doesn't help either. They could use a second train. I also rode the Scrambler, Tilt A Whirl, Yo-Yo, & Sling Shot. It was really nice to see the park thriving.
