Only 3 million more than Intimidator.

Intimidator was $23 million so it's $6 million more than Intimidator. Still surprising to see that it is not that much more expensive. Wonder if Cedar Fair plans on putting more B&M giga's in other parks much like they did with their hyper's.

It looks similar to Intimidator which is my new favorite coaster at Carowinds so I am willing to bet it will be a great ride.

$28,000,000 - $23,000,000 = $5,000,000.

I agree, RollerNut. It looks similar to Intimidator, but I think it's unique enough to be a new ride experience.

I'm online right now looking into what we need to do to get our passport cards.

with "behemoth" sitting in the park to looks kinda like 2 similar rides just different sizes, seems kinda odd not to go with more of an intense layout. But I guess B&M finally decided to stop losing business to intamin. So i am happy for B&M to build some height.

I bet this wont be the only B&M giga we will see in the next 3 or so years.

Holy cow...can it be???? B&M building a giga??? wwwwhhhhaaaaaaaaaa?

In 2012, Canada’s Wonderland will unveil one of the biggest and tallest roller coasters in the world: Leviathan. When the Park opens in May 2012, Leviathan will dominate the Park’s landscape, taking riders to breathtaking heights and speeds never experienced before at Wonderland.

The excitement begins on Leviathan’s first lift hill as riders climb to a record breaking height of 306 feet (93.3M) followed by an exhilarating 80 degree drop. Reaching a top speed of 148 kilometers per hour, riders will experience extreme coaster thrills on 5,486 feet (1,672M) of track that includes a series of giant camelback hills reaching heights up to 180 feet (54.9M), and an astonishing overbanked hammerhead turn at 115 degrees that will cross above the Park’s front gate at 147 feet (44.8M) high.

“Leviathan will be our 16th coaster and now positions Canada’s Wonderland as one of the top three coaster destinations in the world.” said Raffi Kaprelyan, Vice President and General Manager, Canada’s Wonderland. “We will go higher, longer, and faster than ever before when we launch Leviathan in 2012. With the addition of this new coaster and our diverse collection of rides, shows and attractions, we continue to show why Canada’s Wonderland is the destination of choice for those seeking world class thrills and family entertainment."

Leviathan is designed and manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, of Monthey, Switzerland. The highly recognized industry leader in roller coaster development also constructed Behemoth, which premiered at Canada’s Wonderland in May 2008.

Looks incredible! I cant believe B&M actually did a Giga, I thought it would never happen.... :D Looks like the ride will kick @$$ and although it doesn't seem as INTENSE as I-305, I think this ride will still be a lot better because no OTSR. Its interesting to see no MCBR but I guess that's just because its not a HUGE layout and pretty fast coaster @ 92mph.... I wonder if more parks will get Giga's from B&M vs. Intamin now?

Alright I've had a full day to digest and let me share a few of my thoughts.

1. LOL at it being 4 feet shy of Millennium Force
2. LOL at them paying 3 million more, just not to have to deal with Intamin
3. No confusion as to what the restraints will be, unlike seemingly every new Intamin

4. Anyone kind of think the Leviathan logo looks similar to Hydra? Maybe they are distant cousins..

5. I love that they are going back to the older hyper trains, they definitely look better, and are much more streamlined

6. Unlike Behemoth which is actually sort of difficult to take pictures of (its surrounded by a lake and restricted areas), this one will be RIPE with photo ops, going through the parking lot and the picnic pavilions.

I MS Paint'd the Leviathan layout (poorly) onto Google Earth, note Behemoth on the left side.

7. After years and years of crappy coasters by Paramount, 2 amazing coasters in a period of 4 years. Seriously Wonderland will have 16 coasters next year, 2 will be great in Behemoth and Leviathan, 1 is pretty good (Vortex), and the other 13 are just awful, terrible, low capacity pieces of crap. CW is a really, really nice park, with a lot of good flats. I'm surprised it took this long to finally get some quality coasters. Paramount really missed the boat.

8. I would have liked to see the supports a darker more royal blue (basically the same support color as Behemoth), a minor gripe.

9. I like seemingly everyone else wondered why they would put basically put in two of the same type of coaster in such a small amount of time, but the more I thought about it the more I liked it. Behemoth is a proven success, why not add another. With the correct marketing this could really turn out fantastic. While at work today I came up with probably 100 different ways to market Behemoth and Leviathan together. Give them personalities. Give them a backstory. Say they are long lost brothers that have come back to battle. Maybe have them fight on the same side against the evil Bat (the boomerang). I AM AVAILABLE FOR HIRE WONDERLAND GIVE ME A CALL.

Here is one of my ideas, once again horribly MS Paint'd. 1993 SNES references FTW.

Seriously I am super-stoked about Leviathan. Behemoth is already my favorite B&M Hyper, so I'm curious to see how it compares.

^^^ That's what that 61 acres was purchased for....lol (J/K...PLEASE) I hope it doesn't make it's way to a prominent location at the park either. Anyways, something else to be added at Cedar Point's Soak City (from their Facebook page):

Also coming to Cedar Point in 2012 is a brand new mat-racer slide complex for our water park, Soak City! Splash through dips and plateaus while racing your friends on the new slide!
