Ok, <---(has anyone noticed this is how I start EVERY topic :) Just got back from atlanta georgia and I got done basically everything EXCEPT for six flags over georgia. So I ask of you, is it worth going back at some point just to get that done? Like technically speaking, is it better than carowinds?

I am still yet to go there. From what I have head is that it is worth going back for. It is not better than Carowinds though, not even close. Kind of typical from any Six Flags park though.

I must say yes. I went back in '07 and I really enjoyed it. Even though Goliath is smaller than Intimidator, it still packs quite a punch, and it's a lot different too, like with the huge downward helix then the really small airtime hills at the end. Also, I really liked The Mind Bender. Just considering that Carowinds doesn't have a Schwarzkopf I guess. The park feels much more confined though, probably just I'm so used to Carowinds' lack of trees. Not quite better than Carowinds, but still a really great experience.

there are certian rides that compared to a similar ride at carowinds they could beat...

Agrophbia> Drop tower

Superman> Nighthawk

Georgia Scortcher > Vortex

and Dare Devil dive is a fun ride and i think agrophobia is worth the trip... best dropzone ever...

Six Flags over Georgia isn't your 'typical' Six Flags park. It's one of the 3 original Six Flags parks. What a lot of enthusiasts seem to not realize is that SFoG, like SFoT, is not owned by Six Flags Inc. It's owned by a limited partnership and is ran by Six Flags, and the owners have quite a bit of control about how the park is ran.

To say it isn't better than Carowinds, IMO, is completely false. Carowinds is a nice park, but oG has charm, great rides, friendly staff, theming, atmosphere, and is one of the higher regarded regional theme parks. Goliath is the best Beemer hyper I've been on (I think I've hit all but the couple overseas, Diamondback, and Behemoth, and if popularity is any mark, Goliath is rated higher than those).

The park's dark ride, Monster Mansion, is one of the best dark rides out there. The drop ride, Acrophobia, is a thousand times better than Drop Tower, Georgia Scorcher is the best standup, and so much better than Vortex, and I could go on.

Also, the food is decent at this park. Much better than Carowinds.

It's definitely worth an entire day. I suggest going opening weekend in March.

Here are some photos. The park is beautiful, well run, and not to be missed.

The only problem with Six Flags Over Georgia is that it can get absurdly crowded (as with most big Six Flags parks).

Over Georgia is one of the nicest (maybe the nicest) Six Flags parks, and as far as I'm concerned is far superior to Carowinds. Goliath and Mind Bender are two of the best steel coasters in the world, and I have always loved the Georgia Cyclone though I know some don't care for it. Great American Scream Machine is fun as well, plus you've got the original Batman: The Ride and the original Superman: Ultimate Flight. Monster Plantation is great, too.
