General Carowinds discussion

The CEO of cedar fair Matt Ouiment confirmed in a press conference earlier this week that "fast lane" will be introduced in ALL cedar fair parks........what do you guys think about this? I think that it would be a fine option as long as carowinds doesnt treat it as badly as "six flags" did.

Are the lines really this bad that Carowinds needs this. The only rides that ever has a ridiculously long line, is Nighthawk and Rapids. All other rides move fairly quickly. If this is included in the Platiunum pass, I'm all for it, as lines at Kings Dominion and Cedar Point can be crazy long and I normally go there atleast twice a year..

As long as it runs better than the Six Flags system, I am for it.

Hmmm I guess it will depend on pricing on how it affects lines? The thing with this is everyone in fast lane would get on first right? When we did the Q bot thing at dollywood, we were able to just walk right on pretty much. I like the idea, but I dont know if I will like the extra wait. I guess this means no more single rider line?

I hate it that we will have the Fast Lane! In my case, I have a season pass and can choose my days to come to the park, so I doubt it will affect me much. The bottom line here, IS the bottom line. Parks make extra $$ by having this upcharge, especially for guests that may only have 1 day to experience the park. With 25 different parks now visited, I have never paid the upcharge for the benefit, even at SFGAdv or SFGAmer, when the crowds were decently large. I really doubt it will adversely affect most of us on this forum and perhaps it will raise extra revenue towards our next BIG arrival in a year or two...

Yep Yep...As long as season pass holders don't get screwed with this ordeal, then I'm fine! :)

Hurler? Afterburn? Two rides I have seen walk on on a regular basis. I ain't paying $50 for Fast Lane, it is just a waste of money unless you come on a crowded day and even then, I can wait. Flyers would make more sense than Hurler. Cyclone I can see when they running one train, but I havent seen one train operation on Afterburn since Winterfest.

Yes, and windseeker has a pretty high capacity too. Rip rorin rapids I understand, in the fall, not so much. They could of thrown in thunder road and goldrusher for us, i'm happy they didn't though.

Lower capacity, popular rides make sense(ie Cobra, Rapids) but higher capacity rides even popular ones(ie Afterburn, Intimidator) just don't seem like a good selling point to me as they generally have short/no line. Hurler is high capacity and unpopular so why have it on the list, once again doesn't seem like a good selling point. Windseeker I get as it is the new attraction. Boo Blaster is low to medium capacity and popular(good point), Ricochet is low capacity and it is popular. I ain't no marketing person so take my opinion with a grain of salt. As far as Thunder Road..high capacity and popular. It just makes the most sense to me to pick rides that have slow moving lines that are popular.

Well I hate it. If you are trying to get front row (which I do on a lot of coasters) it is a much longer wait. The rides worst effected were Afterburn, Carolina Cyclone from what I road today. As for Intimidator and Windseeker, it almost not effected at all, which is a plus. I feel like this will only be a big problem on busy days like Saturdays.
