Personally I feel a waterpark expansion might be in our midst. I vote Water Coaster all the way!!

There is a rumor going around that CF purchased 3 Giga coasters. The one we know about is Leviathan for 2012. The other two would go in two of their parks, one in 2013 and 2014. That's not saying that Carowinds is getting one, just that rumor has it they are going to build two more in the next couple of years.

While a Giga would be nice at Carowinds, I really think the park is overdue for a waterpark expansion and overhaul since we're so far south compared to a lot of their other eastern and mid western parks.

Also, from our travels to 10 other parks this year, I really see that Carowinds really needs a few more non coasters to round out their selection of rides.

I really think we'll see a lot of what we all want in the next 5-10 years if the economy continues to improve, including another signature coaster like Intimidator.

personally, I would not want a BM Giga here a few years after Intimidator. Its the same ride just taller. If their gonna do Giga, make it Intamin. Carowinds needs different roller coasters, not taller. It needs some type of launch coaster, I would be very happy with just a Wicked Twister type ride or something similar. Bring back the chair lifts. Variety of rides make parks great, not quantity of rides. But we all know whats coming. The Hotel.

^I can't stress enough exactly HOW much i agree with you. Intamin is the way to go if we're getting a giga, regardless of when we get it. Even the GP seem to be curious as to why wonderland is getting the exact same type of ride (just bigger). plus Leviathan isn't very pleasing to the eye in my opinion. The way millenium force's drop gradually glides over the top is so much better looking than Leviathan's sharp drop. I'm a very visual person and i feel like intamin is the way to go.
BUT, i don't think we should be getting a giga for our next coaster. Put something launched in PLEASE. A nice woodie or a wing rider would also be acceptable, in my opinion.

I still say that our next large coaster will be either a GCI woody, a B&M wing coaster, a B&M floorless dive machine or an Intamin launcher. Even though I am a bigger fan of B&M over Intamin overall, I do also agree that if we ever do get a giga coaster, I also wish it would be an Intamin. I love MF at CP. Not a fan of I305. I do not at all think we will a giga coaster though. It would make no sense.

Yes. You are right about that. I guess the answer to that would be a bigger park with more attendance. As we all could, I could list several coasters for that park that would make more sense but that is for another thread. Let's get away from the whole giga idea and move on to something realistic like maybe a GCI woody? As someone mentioned before, I would love to see one on the NW part of the park near Hurler with the coaster crossing the road like Ravin Flyer II and going into the woods and returning similar to Prowler, The Voyage and The Beast. Of course, an Intamin launcher is also a big wish for the park.

Great ideas I do agree and all for a great GCI woody, launch coaster, dive coaster, and the 1st 4th dimension coaster on the east coast, oh and the 1st vertical zigzag coaster like green latern at 6flags Magic mountain on the east coast I'd also like to see:

- a giant huss frisbee like delirum in front of intimidator

- revamp the white water fall like holiday world's pilgrim plunge just make it and 180ft drop vs the 151 at a 55degree angle vs the 45 degree (new record breaker)

- add a giant swing ride like skyhawk at cedarpoint or giant fly swat ride

- a giant ferris wheel and wave swinger to the county fair section

-massive expansion/overhaul of the waterpark makes no sense how northern waterparks are larger yet its warmer in the south

- add more trees for much needed shade

- add about another 100ft to drop zone

- and resort hotels

If CF has signed for three B & M Giga's, I would bet the other two are destined for Knott's(if height allowed) and Worlds of Fun in KC. For us, a rowdy Intimin should be next - no wing or dive machine since they are both represented nearby. I doubt the Intimin will be tall, rather a launch, on the order of Maverick or Fahrenheit(not my favorite). A swinging pendulum like the Huss' Delirium or MaXair would be a GREAT addition by Intimidator, agreed. Bottom line, I wish for the Huss AND the rowdy Intimin launch - those would be our most likely possibilities in the nearer future...

Just a quick heads up, this year is KI's 40th anniversary............and they ended up with a "new" waterpark, and a decent paintjob was replaced. Bottom line is, an anniversary might not mean a new coaster.......but we can always hope for it

I would like to see Cedar Fair add a 300 ft Giga coaster for 2013, in order to make Carowinds more of a destination park for the Southeast. Smaller rides such as a Giant Frisbee can always be added later. Cedar Fair is known for big rollercoasters, and I hope the speculation that they have purchased several Gigas for their parks turns out to be true for Carowinds. Intimidator is awesome, but we also need a Millineum Force.
