Sadly there is very little room for expansion in that park. Maybe sometime soon they will have to go the parking garage route in order to free up some space for the park. As for a giga in ours or KI goes, it does make sense to me to put in a similar ride like Leviathan in, even with similar rides in the park. For the average theme park goer, they would think "Wow Carowinds (or Kings Island) has two very large coasters? I wanna go there!!" I do agree that in order to have SOB taken down in order to fit in a giga would mean they need to start taking it down soon. It is possible that part of it can be taken down out of sight from the guest, before they announce it. After all, a lot of the coaster cannot be seen from inside the park.
Yet a Leviathan type ride would do NOTHING that Intimidator doesn't already do very well. I simply cannot see how more tickets could be squeezed out of the GP by spending another 25 million on what is basically the exact same coaster. Think of what that money could be used for- water park expansion+ flat ride package+ smaller wood/steel coaster= much more bang and much more diversity in park. Carowinds needed the signature marquis steel at the front of the park to bring the stay-cation-er bucks in, and Intimidator filled that role incredibly well. There is simply no need to overshadow that marquis with another marquis that could never have an impact equal to or greater than the first. Knowing what 25 million could buy for this park, it makes no fiscal sense to pool that money into one attraction, when other areas of the park need the money more desperately, and during a period of national economic recession and stagnation.
"Lookit here son, I say son, did ya see that hawk after those hens? He scared 'em! That Rhode Island Red turned white. Then blue. Rhode Island. Red, white, and blue. That's a joke, son. A flag waver. You're built too low. The fast ones go over your head. Ya got a hole in your glove. I keep pitchin' 'em and you keep missin' 'em. Ya gotta keep your eye on the ball. Eye. Ball. I almost had a gag, son. Joke, that is. "<br>
