I guess its safe to say carowinds wont be getting a coaster for 2013. Clearing/construction for Intimidator was already underway at this point.

For us, a rowdy Intimin should be next - no wing or dive machine since they are both represented nearby. I doubt the Intimin will be tall, rather a launch, on the order of Maverick or Fahrenheit(not my favorite). A swinging pendulum like the Huss' Delirium or MaXair would be a GREAT addition by Intimidator, agreed. Bottom line, I wish for the Huss AND the rowdy Intimin launch - those would be our most likely possibilities in the nearer future...

I disagree, I actually think it will be Kings Island in 2013 that get the second giga, and Carowinds in 2014. Why? Because I believe Cedar Fair is doing a pattern like they did with the b&m hypers. Canada's Wonderland in 2008, Kings Island in 2009, and Carowinds in 2010. So if they do a pattern, Kings Island will get a giga next year and we will get one in 2014. It's possible, if Kings Island tears down SOB they might can put a giga there. And Carowinds could attempt to put one somewhere in the new land we purchased. So........ if this does happen, we will not get a coaster of any kind in 2013 (I hope I'm wrong). We will probably get another flat ride, if we are very unfortunate, we will get dinosaurs alive. Just my opinion.

That doesn't mean we not may be getting a smaller coaster or other attraction.

I strongly agree with this and believe this is what is going to happen. Personally I would welcome something that is very similar to Leviathan. I know a lot of people wouldn't, but honestly I really like the layout. Very fast and a lot of airtime. Sounds like my kind of coaster.

does intimidator not have enough airtime for you? I don't want two rides that are exactly the same. I say yes to a giga as long as it has more twisting that airtime. Not to say I don't want any, I just would rather not have a oversized b&m hyper. Which is exactly what Leviathan is...

]Lol, no I don't mean to say Intimidator doesn't have enough airtime, because as airtime comes, it doesn't get much better than Intimidator. I am saying in comparison to Millennium Force, Leviathan appears to have more airtime than it. I would not say Leviathan is not an oversized B&M hyper. B&M hpypers generally only focus on airtime hills, which Leviathan has, but it's not the only thing in it's layout.

I believe it is improbable Carowinds get another similar coaster to Intimidator. If I were in the "driver's seat" at CF, I would probably replace SOB with a rowdy Intimin on the order of Maverick, yet different. Same for Carowinds. I would also try to put a Giga, like Leviathan in at Knott's Berry Farm - that would be a huge asset for them. Another viable possibility for KI would be a Wing coaster, provided the Mother Park doesn't get one for next year, which is sounding very possible. I just don't see the wisdom in putting two very similar coasters into the same park, as is the case at Wonderland - I was surprised when I first learned of it - but good for them - would love to visit - no passport, though, I'm not a "world" traveler. You know, I just think an order for a coaster like El Toro for Carowinds would be a "blow you away choice" for our park. Having rode it and The Voyage a number of times, I can't tell you what a great coaster El Toro is and a true crowd pleaser as well. If not steel, an Intimin woody would be a great addition for KI and Carowinds!

^All of these do sound very realistic for what Cedar Fair would do in the future. Except I have no idea where Knott's would put a giga in. Sadly there is very little room for expansion in that park. Maybe sometime soon they will have to go the parking garage route in order to free up some space for the park. As for a giga in ours or KI goes, it does make sense to me to put in a similar ride like Leviathan in, even with similar rides in the park. For the average theme park goer, they would think "Wow Carowinds (or Kings Island) has two very large coasters? I wanna go there!!" I do agree that in order to have SOB taken down in order to fit in a giga would mean they need to start taking it down soon. It is possible that part of it can be taken down out of sight from the guest, before they announce it. After all, a lot of the coaster cannot be seen from inside the park.

Yet a Leviathan type ride would do NOTHING that Intimidator doesn't already do very well. I simply cannot see how more tickets could be squeezed out of the GP by spending another 25 million on what is basically the exact same coaster. Think of what that money could be used for- water park expansion+ flat ride package+ smaller wood/steel coaster= much more bang and much more diversity in park. Carowinds needed the signature marquis steel at the front of the park to bring the stay-cation-er bucks in, and Intimidator filled that role incredibly well. There is simply no need to overshadow that marquis with another marquis that could never have an impact equal to or greater than the first. Knowing what 25 million could buy for this park, it makes no fiscal sense to pool that money into one attraction, when other areas of the park need the money more desperately, and during a period of national economic recession and stagnation.

I doubt this will happen at all because if CF wanted carowinds to have a giga they simply would've installed two I305 coasters in 2010rather than a B&M hyper at carowinds & an Intamin giga at KD.

There are no real set in stone ride installation patterns with CF,and don't forget we have a new CEO who is more focused on family rides as they're less expensive...CWL spent years developing leviethan so that ride was in development before Kinzel's retirement & subsequent replacement by Quimmett.
