Because I believe Cedar Fair is doing a pattern like they did with the b&m hypers. Canada's Wonderland in 2008, Kings Island in 2009, and Carowinds in 2010. So if they do a pattern, Kings Island will get a giga next year and we will get one in 2014.

I strongly agree with this and believe this is what is going to happen. Personally I would welcome something that is very similar to Leviathan. I know a lot of people wouldn't, but honestly I really like the layout. Very fast and a lot of airtime. Sounds like my kind of coaster.

I doubt this will happen at all because if CF wanted carowinds to have a giga they simply would've installed two I305 coasters in 2010rather than a B&M hyper at carowinds & an Intamin giga at KD.

There are no real set in stone ride installation patterns with CF,and don't forget we have a new CEO who is more focused on family rides as they're less expensive...CWL spent years developing leviethan so that ride was in development before Kinzel's retirement & subsequent replacement by Quimmett.

I disagree, in 2009, we had the perfect spot for a B&M hyper. So..... Cedar Fair took advantage of it and installed Intimidator. KI had a great spot for a giga so they bought one for them. The only place where I see a B&M giga going is possibly behind the palladium. (This is where I think the station will go.) Then, the ride will continue behind season's pass parking and into the recently purchased land, and back. The reason we were not given a giga is because like I said before, we had the perfect spot for a hyper. And in 2009, we did no thave the recently purchased land. Plus, like chknwing said, it wouldn't be easy for Intamin to make 2 gigas in one year. And B&M did not have any gigas in 2009, 2010, or 2011.

I assume you mean KD for Kings Dominion and not KI for Kings Island. I do see it possible for the station to go there. Another option is that I see the Hurler leaving (would not be sad if it did). The station and a large part of the coaster could go there, with the lift hill rising over the bus parking lot and a lot of the ride extending into the new land.

Personally I would prefer to see a Leviathan type coaster put in replacement of Hurler. Although you surely would not hear any complaints from me if they did put a Maverick type coaster there. Heck I wouldn't complain if they replaced Hurler with pretty much anything.

If it's going to be a giga, I want an Intimin. Personally, I think Leviathan is way too similar to any other B&M hyper. I'd rather have a slightly more out of control feeling.

I personally don't like the restraints on Maverick. Every turn makes me feel like my head is going to get cut off. Still a real fun ride. I have heard so many positive things about Leviathan since it opened. I have heard several reviews saying it is the best giga coaster out there. But back to the original idea, please just replace Hurler with something.

I was able to ride it about a month ago, Carowinds has actually made it a little bit smoother. I don't know how, but it feels smoother.

Hey Guys,

New to the forum but I have been a site fan for quite a few years. I definitely had to chime in on this wishlist. I second the motion for a Maverick style ride, and in regards to the restraints, what about using some of this padded type like i305, that surely helped the uncomfy neck slapping. I just would love another launched ride, I mean it has been what, like 24 years since we have had a launched ride. (my dad still to this day misses White Lightnin')

I will continue to say that I will almost never agree with removing a coaster. With the land Carowinds has, I do not see the point in it. Hurler is fine with me as long as you ride in the front car. I would not ride in the back seat of any wooden coaster with any age on it if someone gave me a $50 bill to do so. Then again, I am over 40 and I am not a fan of neck pain. Haha.

I also continue to be amazed at the idea of us getting a gigi anytime soon. I don't think we are anywhere near that although, in all honesty, I would love to be proven wrong for sure. As much as I am a much bigger fan of B&M than Intamin, I will have to actually agree that I think I would prefer an Intamin MF/Skyrush style giga if we ever did get one. I absolutely hated I305 and I said one ride was enough but I rode it again, in the front row, and still hated it. MF is how you do 90+ mph with long sweeping turns and not short, tight, jerky painful turns like I-305. Their Mega Lite is the correct speed and drop for hard banking turns after a huge drop and not the way they did it for I-305. I am SO glad we got the B&M hyper instead of what they got back in 2010. I think Skyrush is going to be a winner. Yes, I know Skyrush is not a giga before anyone says anything. Just wanting to mention that style. I am not a Maverick fan at all so I have no desire for that either.

I am gonna stick with my prediction that I think our next major coaster will be a GCI woody or a launcher of some sort. Either one just makes more sense to me than a giga. As for a launcher, let's combine Cheetah Hunt, Rita, Speed Monster and Blue Fire in a coaster and there you go. The perfect launcher for us to me.

i feel like this thread should be renamed "Giga: What Kind, Where, and When?" bc I feel like we've heard the same opinions over and over....
Nonetheless, I think we'll get one eventually. Whether or not it's our next coaster and when exactly our next coaster will happen, I don't know. I've stated my opinions on the matter before so I won't reiterate them, but I'm sure we'll have a great giga in our park one day.

Also, I honestly hope our next coaster isn't a giga. We DESPERATELY need something launched. And it needs to have inversions. No Verbolten teaser coaster. We got the big, tall, airtime monster back in 2010. Now we need the relentless, bad a**, twisting and turning launcher. Maverick is an AMAZING coaster. It never lets up from the time you hit the top of the lift to the time you hit the final brakes. And the concept of it is great too. Lift and launch. 90+ degree drop. Fast, unexpected turns. Carowinds doesn't have anything like that.
Now I don't think we should get an exact copy, though I wouldn't complain about that. But we know if Cedar Fair and Intamin can produce a hell of a coaster like that, who's to say they can't do it again? If the goal really is to make Carowinds the "Cedar Point of the South," then rides like that (new and unique to not only Carowinds, but the South in general) are what we should be expecting in the coming decade.

Most of the GP don't travel across the country to different theme parks, nor do they spend their time online looking at them like we do. So we don't necessarily have to be getting what is new and hot at this very moment (B&M Giga or WingRider). Just something new to Carowinds... which includes a WIDE range of possibilities. I have no idea what is next for Carowinds. I can hope for what I just described or few other possibilities but I'm sure whatever we get will be a First class, Amazing Roller Coaster! and I look forward to riding it a million times over!

Hey, it's monday! You know what that means!

...well, neither do I... But I'm going to post this crappy MS Paint picture anyway! Carowinds recently bought 60 acres of land. It's my understanding that it's the rectangle of land behind the park. This picture accurately shows my wishlist of development for that area.

Additionally, I think it would be an awesome idea to include transportation from the front of the park to this new section in the back of the park. The green indicates the train (light railish? Chairlift?), while the white indicates the stations. Yes, it goes under the bridge!

I think something like iSpeed would be really good. Another Maverick like ride would not be too bad, as long as the OTSR fixed and made thicker. That way it doesn't feel like my head is going to be cut off by them on every turn. I do agree Carowinds does need a launch more than anything. However I just think Cedar Fair and B&M have a multi-coaster deal just like they did with Behemoth, Diamondback, and Intimidator. Guess we will find out if they do, or not. Either coaster would be great for Carowinds.

I don't think this is the new land, is it? I thought the area east to the VIP parking to I-77 was the new land.
