They filmed Intimidator for us right before it opened, there is one's of Afterburn and Thunder Road on their Facebook page. I'm sure that they would love to hear your POV suggestions, and possibly even do some. And in return, you can just enjoy the rides while your at the park instead of breaking rules that could get you kicked out of the park, or worse...you could get your season pass revoked and end up sitting at home watching POV's the entire season, wishing you could actually be riding...

I think he wants it more for "reaction videos" rather than "POV videos." I'm guessing his camera would be aimed at him and his family/friends rather than what he is looking at.

Thank you all for the posts.

We are working to get more POV footage of the rides. As soon as we get them we'll post them on FB and on Youtube for your enjoyment.

However, as previously posted:

For safety reasons, we cannot permit on ride photography of any kind on any ride other than the Carolina Skytower. Due to the potential for water damage, Rip Roarin’ Rapids and Whitewater Falls riders should leave their cameras and other valuable items with a non-rider or in a locker.

This includes Boomerang Bay.

Yes, that's exactly right, I wanted to get video of my family and friends. I don't care about pov videos. It's a shame that we can own eqipment that is safe to use and not allowed to use it.

I understand your frustration, and most people would agree I think that a GoPro with a wrist strap is not really a loose article. From the park's perspective, though, it becomes confusing and difficult to enforce things on a case-by-case basis. Plus, when you see a video online, there's really no way to know if it was filmed safely or not.

Call me a total nerd but I want onride video of train. The current name of the train escapes me but it used to be the Azul Adventure. Yes, people do ride the ride, my daughter rode 3 times on her last visit. As far as wrist straps go, they come off and do break.

If you want POV's or like a souvenier video there's a company that makes ride cams for coasters,GL's thunderhawk had these cameras & they were mounted to the upper wheel housings of each car facing backward to film riders during the ride & could be purchased much like an on ride photo.Of course CF removed the system when the ride was moved to MIA but it proves the technology exists if the parks will invest in it.

If you are caught with a camera of any kind on a ride (including a phone), you will be escorted from the park.

Thank you for helping to keep everyone safe!

HAHA and the PR have spoken!!! I think the only actual people granted to use cameras were the travel channel team which im sure the cam was actually mounted to the train itself. RIDE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^^^Actually they also use hand-helds (that are strapped on with tape so they wont fly off) as well as the chest harness cameras. At least they did at the Seaworld Orlando shoot in addition to mounted ones. Of course they have all the necessary permissions to do so.

No, they don't. You've obviously never seen, touched, or examined the GoPro cameras and their mounts. I've ridden behind a boat, wakeboarding, IN water with the water pressure all against me and the camera. It was never close to coming off. I strapped it to a tube on a longer rope to get video from a different angle, and it was pulled behind a boat at 25 mph. I wore it skydiving, 15,000 feet, 120 mph free falling, it didn't even budge. I've done more with it, but you get the picture. They do not come off.

Yep, they have. Of course, the real reason is, that it's because Carowinds, and other theme parks (I'm not saying this is just Carowinds) can't make money off of it, so they won't even listen to reason.

However, I play by the rules, spend a fortune at their park, and I'll still have fun. It's not the end of the world.

Very true, Jonathan. I understand that, but look at it in another way, a simple request, granted, and the rider wears a specific wrist band only given out by the park, even at a fee would be fine! I just think they have a government mentality about the issue. It's a rule, and they don't want to even think about it.

DING DING DING, yay a triple post.

davlow06 wrote: I don't argue.

Really?

That's not to say you don't have good points. Many of us, for years, have wished we could have legitimately taken cameras on-ride, for a variety of reasons. We can't, so we don't, and found other ways to creatively capture the park experience on camera. Sure, technology has caught up, but until a park can absolve themselves of any legality, liability, (hell, even insurance costs) for your particular situation, sorry, but you're stuck down here on the ground like the rest of us.

Well said, Wormy.

As far as the Travel Channel shoot, wrist cameras weren't allowed on that shoot. I was one of the chest mounted cameras and there was at least two mounted on the Intimidator train. All of them required extra precautions to ensure that the housing didn't open and there was no chance of the camera coming off during the filming.

I also have a gopro camera. when i go to cedar fair park's I can occasionally (depending on the amount of people in the park for that specific day,) and with the right mounting accessories they let me take my camera on the rides at the park
