Not really sure why that is because launches can be some of the most intense part for a coaster. It doesn't have to be anything like Top Thrill Dragster, but something with a nice launch would be great.

I noticed you kind of have to learn how to ride Maverick. I learned to lean into the turns and mostly avoid the pain on the restraints. Once that was done, I actually considered Maverick to be one of my top 5 coasters.

I was trying to figure out how to say this earlier and I just didn't mention it bc what I was saying didn't make sense. But yeah, I did that too when I went up last summer. After a few rides you are able to anticipate when the ride shifts direction and you can brace yourself to where you don't get slammed from side to side.

I really do not have much experience on Maverick to pick on it. My rides are very limited as I have only been to CP once post Maverick. If CP was my home park I am sure I would learn to ride it also and enjoy it. I am more of a traditionalist myself so I prefer lift hills over launches anyways. You get the view, the anticipation and less down time on average.

Yes this is nice, however with all of the coasters at Carowinds like this, it would be nice to have something different like a launch.

Back to the Intamin launcher idea, I think something like Cheetah Hunt would be a good addition to Carowinds. We were at BGT this past weekend and found it to be one of the two best rides in the park. It's not the fastest most exciting coaster out there but it had a few nice pops of air time and a good layout. It's a coaster that most families can enjoy.

i can see them putting something like magma at paultons park in planet snoopy. all of the reacent new attractions have been thrill rides. so i think the next thing will be a whole family ride.

I dont think we will get dinosaurs alive either, there is really no location, other than where "Camp Kilauee" (sp) is located.... After doing the one at CP (no I didnt pay for it, it was a behind the scenes thing with ACE), its really not that bad. I know kids would enjoy it a lot, which I think is what its more for/about anyway.

I want a launch coaster, not an intamin launch though. I want a flight of fear.... or something similar, at least in the sense of upside down w/a lapbar only.

Do you know when the last time something like that was built?

Seems kinda tall for planet snoopy, personally I see a frog hopper ride (Kite eating Tree) ride more likely.

Cedar Fair usually sticks with the big guns when it comes to manufacturers. If we get a launcher, it will more than likely be an intamin.

Does anyone know if any hints might have dropped during the ACE convention? I am almost 100% certain Carowinds will get SOMETHING for 2013. I would think it strange if no attraction was added.

I do agree that if we do get a launcher that it would be an Intamin due to looking at Cedar Fair history. As for being for sure about something big for 2013, I am not so certain. I would hope so and if you look at the last four years you have a pattern that would rotate back to big:
2009: Moderate
2010: Big
2011: Small
2012: Moderate
2013: Big?????
Not to mention it is a big birthday year. I am still only about 50/50 on the idea myself. It is getting deep enough in the year that you would think something would pop up in some way whether it be survey markers, big wigs visiting, fake props planted, or something small like a building permit found for a maintenance shed.

In the past decade or so at Carowinds, we get something big around every 5 years. However that may be shortened since Cedar Fair planning on improving the park greatly. I still think our next big ride (roller coaster) will be 2014.

I have a feeling Carowinds is following KD's schedule for major rides so I don't see either park adding a new coaster till 2014 at the earliest...depending on what's planned for the other parks in 2013(outside of what we know so far) it just might be an off year for both parks given the fact that windseeker was added this year at a cost of $5.5-$6.5 million a piece.

I dont get why carowinds would get a big ride if we know they have to get something big next year for the 40th anniversary. I think they will probily get the flat ride we were hoping they would have for this year.
