General Carowinds discussion

I am still wishing for a 300ft Giga coaster, but I guess that will have to wait to 2014 if such an idea is even being considered. But does CF still have a contract with B&M for multiple coasters, or have those now been alotted to other parks? I say just hire Intamin to build another Mill Force style coaster. My wishful thinking, but I know they also need some bigger, better flat rides. A giant wheel or swing ride would be good also. But I also like carnival rides like the Octopus, Cobra, and Himalaya which they don't seem to have either.

No one knows if they do or not. I do not believe that people knew of a 3 coaster contract between them and Cedar Fair for Behemoth, Diamondback, and Intimidator. I really hope for a 300 foot B&M as well in the near future. Won't be next year.

But Bart Kinzel does. Doesn't necessarily mean that will be our next coaster, but he would have the biggest input on what comes in next.

I doubt Cedar Fair will build another giga, other than CGA there are no parks with ongoing construction. A giga or hyper would have started construction by now for 2013.

^I would disagree with you when the old regime was in charge but I tend to agree with you based on what the new CEO has said so far. He doesn't have enough of a track record to reliably predict what will happen long term so I'm not sure what to think until we've seen the company direction in the next few years.

I don't care about Dinosaurs Alive coming to Carowinds except that they could use that real estate more effectively to expand the park in other ways.

No, a good friend of mine who works at Carowinds. He has a high position in the park, so he gets to talk to him from time to time. Plus these are not future plan, just what he wants.

For anyone wondering about the survey markers in the back of kiddie land, go look at the "mazes leaving" thread! I took some pictures yesterday of a multitude of markings on the pavement and I've come to the conclusion that this area is where the new haunt will be placed.

I've posted a TON of pics on that thread, go look at them and come to your own conclusion. :D

^I believe it will be some new ride for Planet Snoopy. As for what type of ride it would be, I do not know.

I disagree with the haunt idea, one of the pics even says "flat" aka flat ride.

Are we going to fall for this two years IN A ROW?
Anybody remember last year?

Anyway, my guess is that since the construction footprint is so large, that it will be a Zamperla "surf's up"

http://www.zamperla.com/en/product/157/ ... egory_id=7

Another "surf's up" that cedar fair has used is "surf dog" at kings island

http://www.visitkingsisland.com/rides/W ... a/Surf-Dog

Does this sound possible to anybody else?

I went on the one at Kings Island and it was a lot of fun. Took up a lot of land though.

I personally would much rather have a new Planet Snoopy flat ride that anything Scarowinds related. I do not care anything about Scarowinds but don't get me wrong as I am thrilled we have it and I hope it never goes away. I have three nephews with the oldest about to turn 6. I would love to see a new ride there. I enjoy riding with them on about half the rides in Planet Snoopy.

Eh, I just find it too likely that the new haunt this year will be an acre, and the surveyed land just happens to be roughly an acre in size, perhaps a bit more. I'm not 100% positive though, being that there's no way to know until construction begins. The two standing possibilities as of right now are either A). this area is indeed the location of the new maze. Or B.) As hdmech mentioned, these markers are there only to fool us and to keep us guessing. Either way, I seriously doubt that this area will be used for a new kiddie ride, being that there just isn't enough room...unless you started tearing out rides that is
