Hey, that wasn't a slap in the face. You were just making some very good points. I was just following the facts what Cedar Fairs as been doing. Most parks as gotten a Hyper Coaster within 5 years give or so. Then Windseeker. Then looking at the 2 parks has gotten a Giga in the past 2 years, to me it just makes since. To me, there is a pattern.

^I know what you mean by the patterns, especially with the hypers installed between 2008 and 2010. however I haven't heard any evidence of Kings Island getting a giga next year, attempting to follow the same pattern as the hypers. Who knows, maybe the pattern is spaced out more than the hypers were.

Speaking of patterns I was talking to Duane (rcdb) about this Cedar Fair three coaster/B&M deal that several of us on here keeps mentioning from time to time and he did say there was some truth about that. He gave several examples of it. Just like we have done on here before, we started going through the various CF parks and the recent B&M additions. We now have #1 CP park semi confirmed for a wing coaster and #1 for a giga already in place so if their is any validity to this it does make you wonder if we will get one of the two over the next 2 to 3 years. Even though Duane is a 'big dog' in what he does (such as Rob Alvey and Lance Hart) that does not mean he or them have any privilege information they keep secret or anything. We were simply discussing things just like we do here on CC. I am rather confident now that what we get for 2013 will be light but I am feeling good about 2014 or 2015 whether it is one of the above or something else big.

Well Kings Dominion started the Giga back in 2010. So the pattern isn't really different. As far as Kings Islands goes, I see a BIG bon fire on SOB (which in a way is sad) and that would make the space for the Giga there. However, I have read that Cedar Fairs is trying to find some way into reopening SOB but its been sitting for how long I really don't forsee it happening.

And if there is another B&M coaster....It would make since that it would be a B&M Giga after all the problems that they had with I-305 and I believe MF had some problems at one time. Look at Top Thrill Dragster and the problems they have had. I think Cedar Fairs is going to try to stay away from Intamin. They just had way too many problems in the past.

I was referring to the three coaster contract with B&M that Cedar Fair supposedly has that has popped up from time to time in discussion so I-305 would not count. I do not know if such a thing even exists. If there is any truth to it, it would mean that it is likely that there will be two more B&M gigas built at Cedar Fair parks over the next couple of years and two more wing coasters built assuming that CP is getting one in 2013 which appears to almost be certain. Question is, if there even is such a contract does it mean the exact coaster style and/or does it mean three years back to back?

When I mention I-305 I was talking about the fact it was a Intamin and that I believe Cedar Fairs doesn't want to deal with Intamin because of the problems with them.

As far as your question goes, it really depents on how the contract was written. However, I feel that in this type of business it would be a 3 year contract back to back. Reason why is because 1) There is most likely a discount kind of deal for Cedar Fairs because they did contract back to back.

2) If the contract is back to back i'm sure they can go with any style because either way, B&M is going to make money and they plan it out within a 3 year time frame.

Like I said, if a contract exists it does not necessarily mean it has to be back to back. I am not sure if Cedar Fair is avoiding Intamin. Although yes they do have problems maintenance wise with their coasters, they also make fantastic coasters as well. It is no secret that B&M's coasters are the most reliable in the business and also make fantastic coasters. I see Cedar Fair continuing to buy coasters from both in the future, especially since if Cedar Fair wants a launch coaster since B&M avoids launch coasters.

Hahaha. Giga talk still. I hope you guys don't get your hopes up too much.

RollerNut wrote:Jay, I respectively disagree, Thrill Zone is the most neglected not counting upcharge rides.

I agree somewhat, but where is there room to add anything? Tell us Nut what would you like to see added and where? Lets hear some ideas.

We should combine all the threads and talk about the new giga dinosaur themed log flume that is coming next year.

Seriously, while I want new rides, I'd be even happier if they would rework the entrance to the park and parking. That is my biggest wish. If you stay until closing it's really a pain to get out of the main parking lot. I think it would do wonders to turn that new land into parking so that it all faces the great looking entrance to the park.

I by no means think we are getting a giga anytime soon. As for being disappointed. If what is going on in Planet Snoopy has something to do with Scarowinds then I will be disappointed for sure. I am hoping for it to be an expansion/addition to Planet Snoopy or a decoy to throw us off the track.

well since the markers seem to be pretty much confined to the path, I'm confident this is something for Scarowinds. CP just started construction for a new haunt per screamscape.

Or one of those slides where the floor drops out from under you and you slide down a very steep slide. Then it can do whatever, possibly a loop like on Scorpion Tail at Noah's Ark.

I just did one of those at water country usa (busch gardens VA). The most terrifying ride I have ever been on...I would welcome a pair of those to carowinds anyday.

tylerSC wrote:I am still wishing for a 300ft Giga coaster, but I guess that will have to wait to 2014 if such an idea is even being considered. But does CF still have a contract with B&M for multiple coasters, or have those now been alotted to other parks? I say just hire Intamin to build another Mill Force style coaster. My wishful thinking, but I know they also need some bigger, better flat rides. A giant wheel or swing ride would be good also. But I also like carnival rides like the Octopus, Cobra, and Himalaya which they don't seem to have either.

What contract? But why want a Mil-force style coaster with intimidator? I still dont get the concept of why wonderland did the same thing. I would rather 2 different experiences (ie if any coaster over 300ft makes the cut it should be a launched coaster) than 2 very similar ones...

Flats are exactly what is needed...let me go start a "carowinds needs more flats" facebook group. That'll get the parks attention!

Looks like a Surf's Up.

looks like dots to me...

Anyway im gonna keep saying the park needs a dark ride. The boo hill thing just isn't cutting it. More families are traveling to more parks especially disney and universal parks and are becoming more aware of what is out in the theme park world via internet. And how bout an indoor pizza buffet? It works at a lot of other parks so bite the bullet carowinds!!
