Instead I hope that these markers mean a new pathway will be constructed so this area isn't. as cut off from the rest of the park, along with a laser light show similar to the one at CP.

I'm actually quite shocked they would do DA considering the North Carolina Zoo added it this year and it's only an hour north of Charlotte.

Ends in October as far as I know.

Last time i was at carowinds while riding thunder road i noticed several cones in the parking lot beside it in a cource or track shape. At first look me and my brother thought it was for people training for the driver of the first aid cart but now that you have brought this up i got to thinking and maybe they will move the driving school to the unused parking lot and sad to say put dino's in where we see all the stakes or markers.

I am doubting the theory of removing Road Rally for DA and my reasoing is I believe DA will prove to be temporary attraction, it is along way from AFX and only Cedar Point removed a ride for DA and that was a ride that no one rode. Road Rally is a popular ride.

I saw that as well and thought of the same thing. Wonder what it means.

New poster, but I've been reading the site frequently since I discovered it earlier this year...

Not 100% sure what the cones are for, but I did see one of the park security cars navigating through them one day while riding After Burn. I'm thinking it's a part of training (either new or ongoing), maybe to help with maneuvering through the poorly designed parking lot (when there are issues that require moving through tight spaces???). I really don't think it has anything to do with a new ride or relocation of a ride after seeing that.

Hope that helps. My name is Mike by the way, and will continue to read and post here as well.

I also observed a law enforcement vehicle navigating the cones from Afterburn on my 7/17 visit. I *think* the one I saw might not have been Carowinds Security, but maybe from another agency. No connection to future expansion or attraction plans except it proves that parking lot isn't needed very much for customer parking. I guess it gets used on special busy Saturdays, such as when they have "Christian music days" and I've seen it full for Quail Hollow golf tournament fans that took shuttles from there to the course.

chknwing wrote:thats a large area for dinosaurs, also its pretty far from the action theater where they would show the dinosaur show. but considering Cedar Fair reported that they have a 5% increase in revenue, mainly from guest spending, I could see them attribute that to Dinosaurs and try and get carowinds to cash in as well.

Well for comparison KD's DA is all the way back over by Grizzly while the action theater playing the related movie is up near the front of the park's old virginia section which is quite a hefty hike.

That is what I thought of too, till I actually saw the DA film. Even Spongebob is better than it.

Today I was riding drop tower, (facing away from the park) and in the woods behind hurler the park has cleared out a medium-large size area and filled it with construction equipment. I know that this isn't a wishlist but still... :P

Anyone know anything new about 2013? Heard anything new? The survey markings in joe cool driving school amount to anything?

It would seem like even if we are getting only 10 new trash cans that we would know something real soon. It is September already and no announcement. I would assume that "Iron Throttle Outlaw Striker" is not gonna happen next year for us but let's announce something soon one way or another.
