General Carowinds discussion

Screamscape posted on their website that 2 mazes are coming to carowinds this year. At first this seemed a tad odd but then I kept on reading the post, only to find out that they expected the removal of last laff...which seems unlikely seeing as though it was never taken down in the first place.

He said "we can expect" and "I'd hope"
That doesn't necessarily mean there WILL be 2 mazes. There will only be one new maze and they are NOT removing any mazes.

Just found this on the Carowinds website! Take a special note of the new description for the Playground....maybe there's something to those theories about a Toxic Trap maze.. :D
MAZES
Fury: A top secret military facility creating the ultimate weapon. ‘Fury’ is the drug cocktail used in experimentation that mutates, disfigures and weaponizes its human subjects then pits them against mankind to test their endurance, depravity and lack of conscience.

Defex, Inc.: Dare to sneak a peak at this disassembly line full of defects and rejects, as they torment you through this industrial strength nightmare.

Camp Killauee: Camp Killauee was once the fun, scenic summer camp where memories were made. But thanks to some unfortunate accidents, it seems the charm has faded. We welcome you back to show you why now Camp Killauee is where nightmares are made.

Cornstalkers: This area is famous for two things: cornfields and killin’! You’re guaranteed to get a big ole’ bunch of both as you fight to escape the overgrown crop and its creepy inhabitants.

Dead Inn: Bed bugs are the least of your worries as you desperately try to check out from our quaint little inn, in one piece.

Last Laff in 3D: Being afraid of clowns takes on a whole new meaning as our maniacal mirth-makers get up close and personal to terrorize you in shocking 3-D!

Silver Screen Cinema: Join us on a “sin”ematic tour of some of the creepiest horror films ever made. Perhaps you’ll become and extra in a nightmare where our director makes the final CUT.

Asylum: Insanity is your only hope of forgetting the horrific sites and sounds from within this twisted asylum.

NEW in 2012! Maze "X": A Ghastly new addition so terrifying, we are going to let you sweat it out just a bit longer….full blooded details coming soon….very soon…

SCAREZONES
Feeding Frenzy: Our blood-thirsty horde of hardcore vampires goes straight for the throat in this gritty, high-impact scare zone.

The Cemetery: Death is nothing compared to what the unsettled spirits of our not-so-dearly departed have in store as they await you in the mist on the grounds of the Cemetery.

The Playground: The twisted tykes have taken a turn for the worst as this playpen of rejects has now become infested with a toxic nuclear outbreak making this a quarantined junkyard for the disfigured.

Executive Graveyard: Watch your back while wondering through this sacred graveyard as the dead have their rotting eyes on you.

SHOWS

NEW! Blood Drums: SCarowinds’ Halloween Haunt just got a whole lot louder! Get ready for an explosive blend of high energy percussion, music, rhythms, sparks and lights.
Located at the Cobra Midway Stage near Carolina Cobra

Eternal Jamnation: This high energy rock and pop musical review has an edgy Halloween style. Guests will enter the dimly lit Carowinds Theater where they find themselves in a dark and creepy morgue located deep in the basement of a long abandoned hospital. It is here that the living dead become reanimated by the power of Rock n Roll and come to life to perform the biggest show this side of the graveyard!
Located at the Carowinds Theater

Creatures of the Night: These soul haunting Creatures deliver all of your ghoul-time favorites in this rollicking and ‘spirited’ song and dance music revue… don’t miss it if you wish to sleep soundly at night!

Does anyone else notice that the "executive graveyard" is just going to be that area outside of boo blasters...but then when you look at the webcam, that area is getting set up just like normal?

Yea I guess the playground is getting the toxic upgrade to it, which seems cool. The executive graveyard is a new scare zone which is cool, they will probably add more people to the area and change some things up. And we still have to wait for maze "x."

Is the maze called "X" or is that just what they're calling it for now?
And I wonder if there will be a full website up? Also, what's going to be different about the small cemetary outside of Boo Blasters, now that it's a scarezone?

They're just calling it "maze X" for the time being until the real name is released. As far as the small cemetery outside of Boo Blasters goes, if that becomes the new scare zone, then you can expect a lot more scenery put out plus the addition of scharactors stationed to that specific area.

If you look at the scarowinds website page now, you can easily tell that a better website will be made available in the next couple of days/weeks.

Hopefully they'll keep the flash animation backdrop for the website though, but change the video in the background.

As far as the actual website goes, I think the new maze will be announced on Saturday, thus the website will follow suit.

Okay, I don't mean to sound condescending or sarcastic, but can some one tell my why Scarowinds is such a big deal to generate SO MUCH discussion? I honestly never think about it except my one token visit a year. To me none of the mazes have ever been that great or scary, especially when you compare them to some of the more local haunts or some of the stuff that Universal puts on. Is there something I don't understand about it at my ripe old age?

Not trolling I swear.. just curious. I have enjoyed my past visits to Scarowinds and look forward to going this year. I just don't find it interesting enough to talk about until the day I go.

EDIT - I did work on a local Haunted Trail for 6 or 7 years, maybe that has something to do with it?

I personally just think SCarowinds is more fun than scary all together, it's also fun to talk about and see what everyone thinks the new maze will be.

Um, no, it's really not. The mazes are all the same, no matter how much you want to 'theme' them. Chainsaws. Oh boy. I liked haunted houses when I was a teen too, but settle down.

Whoa whoa whoa.. who made you a mod?

Besides all the mazes are so drastically different:

Fury - scary monsters in a military base
Defex - scary monsters in a toy factory
Camp Killauee - scary monsters in a summer camp
Dead Inn - scary monsters in a hotel
Asylum - scary monsters in a mental hospital

I can only imagine what the new maze will be!
