I was there for a few hours on Sunday and that back area looks exactly the same to me as it did when I took pictures a few weeks ago.

Only thing that I don't get, every other DA is in a very secluded part of the park. The picnic shelter there is basically way out in the open, you could see the entire thing from the top of Afterburn's steps. You'd need like a 30 foot tall fence to keep any of the mystique about it.

Also all the other DA's are much larger from 3.3 acres at Dorney to 12 at Kings Island. Carowinds would by far have the smallest one. There's only what about 1-2 acres max?

All just wishful thinking on my part of course. Really pulling for Planet Snoopy expansion.

I'm starting to think Carowinds is getting nothing new next year, or they would have announced it by now. Usually they make upcoming announcements in August. Although Kings Dominion is making their big announcement Sept. 12. So I'll give them a few more days before I give up on Carowinds until 2014. Maybe a Giga by then. But rumours have one coming to Knott's Berry Farm, and it'll be interesting to see what KD announces next week. Maybe a taller, faster launch coaster? We shall see.

The one thing new for 2013 is their increase in season pass rates. Wow, I can't believe they went from $65 last year to $75 this year each for a Gold pass (4 or more passes). I try hard to support my local park even though we go to 8-10 different parks each year but this is making it a very difficult decision. Hopefully they will have a $65 per pass special before the end of October.

I just received notice that I can renew my Six Flags season passes for only $45.

I also noticed they aren't selling junior passes yet, I agree the roughly ten dollar hike is hard to justify. However, I know I will still buy them, we love Carowinds.

Yeah, we probably will too. I am wondering if Carowinds just missed the mark in marketing? Based on comments from Cedar Fair about developing unused land around the parks this may be a way for them to generate some additional revenue to do it.

I noticed online that it looks like I can renew our gold passes for around $72 instead of the $75. I am still holding out to see if they get a better deal in the next few weeks.

I just went to Carowinds.com to try and renew my season pass and I can't seem to find out how to get it for this price. The cheapest I am finding is around $89 after taxes and fees.

The $72 - $75 that I quoted is for a 'four pack' of four or more season passes. I just happen to fall in that category right now. Individual passes are quite a bit more as you noted.

I'm not sure why passes went up so much since cost of living hasn't gone up much recently with the world-wide depression that we're slowly starting to recover from.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the reply. Does anyone know if they run a renewal program that offers it for a little cheaper at any time during the year? I seem to recall something like that last year. If anyone remembers the details of it, was there a way to upgrade to platinum?

To clarify regarding 2013 season passes.

-There will be absolutely no JR / SR Gold passes this year.
-The price the passes are out at this time is the absolute cheapest price it will be.
-There is absolutely no renewal price. Same price for everyone this year.
-You can renew your season pass to a 2013 gold pass, but you can not upgrade a 2012 gold to a 2013 platinum - you must buy a new pass, and take a new picture.
-If you buy a new season pass, you can not get your 2013 pictures taken until next spring.
-You can do the 6 month plan, or buy your pass all at once.
-When you buy a new season pass online for 2013, you get a free day in the park during the 2013 season.

Prices are as follows:
Gold - $84.99
Gold 4 or More - $74.99

Platinum - $164.00
Platinum JR / SR (48" and shorter, 62 and older.) - $99

Hope this helps.
