rctdcifreak wrote:Is it mean or is Six Flags really stepping up there game? Don't get me wrong there has been some rides moved from one park to another which is good for the general public in each market and very little for the enthusiasts but it seems to me that Six Flags is making good use of their properties and their own attractions. Cedar Fair has essentially wasted some good rides for scrap that could have been good just to transplant to another park. I'm not complaining that CF is focusing on new state of the art attractions I just get the feeling there is a TON of waste going on within the company. Does anyone else agree?

And by the way did anyone notice that the layout for Gold Striker is the same exact layout that was on Screamscape several years ago?

Oh and Iron Rattler while looking amazing can it really claim the first wood coaster with a barrel roll when Outlaw has two and has been talked about longer?

I wouldn't consider Iron Rattler to be a wood coaster anymore. Just like Texas Giant, it's going to be steel with wood frame (steel hybrid). Even rcdb has it listed as steel now: http://www.rcdb.com/56.htm. As far as the "first claims" it will be the first coaster with Iron Horse Track to go inverted.

In all honesty, who cares if it's classified as a wood or steel coaster? It is going to be amazing either way!

Six Flags emerged from Bankruptcy protection two years ago. The point of filing in the first place was so they can move forward. Now with their current execs (including some former Paramount Parks execs), I feel they're heading in the right direction, save for the fact that some parks, SFMM especially, need some major flats.

I think they're trying to move some rides around to round out some parks to go forward.

REALLY looking forward to Iron Rattler. Giant was wonderful and is now my number #1 coaster. Full Throttle, even with low capacity, looks pretty cool. I plan on hitting SDC and going back to Texas next year. Hope to do a west coast trip since there is SO much new out there since 2005.

Completely off topic but it sure as heck doesn't need it's own thread...

I drove to Conneticuit for a wedding this weekend and drove past Dorney Park. I've never seen it before so I snapped some pictures from the car driving by on the interstate.

Was it open? You shoulda stopped by. Even on a busy day you can get all the credits in 2 hours or less.

I didn't stop. I had three people with me; not to mention, I only have a gold pass at Carowinds. I'm strongly considering the Platinum next year.

Get the Platinum if you are ever going to be near any other Cedar Fair parks. Have had a Platinum Pass for two years now and have gone to 4 Cedar Fair parks for free.

I hardly call that free, lol ;). Platinum is espensive! Thankfully I knew I'd be doing KD and KI this year. Planning on Platinum next year too for CP.

And to keep on topic:

This looks like fun...kind of reminds me of an Intamin megalite with a heartline roll at the end, but I'm sure that wasn't on purpose.

Wild Adventures 2013

There are 2 new attractions announced: Tailspin and Wacky Wheels.

From the park's Facebook page:

COMING IN 2013 - TailSpin - a rocking and spinning ride on a half-pipe which takes riders more than four stories high while facing outward on a motorcycle-like seat.

Go to http://www.wildadventures.com/2013
for information on the other attraction, Wacky Wheels, for our littler guests.

Which one of you thrill seekers wants to be the first to ride TailSpin?

From the Park's Website:
In addition to the above, it states that the height requirement for Tailspin will be 48".

A whirling teacup-like ride for littler kids who aren't tall enough to twirl on TailSpin yet. No height requirement

Not sure about that, the Disk-O (Tail Spin) might be a bit intense for Snoop. Then again we do have the Flyers in that area. *shrug*

I was really thinking this was going to be a (smallish, possibly spinning) coaster, with all the "hype." I'm no better than all the stupid people who thought Kings Dominion was going to get a coaster. :(

Gauntlet should be considered a thrill ride, Flying Dutchman's Revenge is quite fast and those Balloons arealmost as sickening as Scream Weaver. Of course, Flyers can be made to make Afterburn look like a family coaster.
