I am thinking of a trip to SFoG this year and purchasing a pass for 2013 since its like $6 a month for 12 months and I can go to SFMM and ride FULL THROTTLE next year. I was just curious what everyones thoughts are on the park in Georgia and any tips / suggestions? I want to go to Fright Fest of course, is there anything to avoid or any "must do's". I have read mixed reviews about the park but I really want to try some of the Six Flags parks out and I really want to ride Superman. Please let me know any advice or anything that maybe helpful for the trip.

First of all, the Six Flags season passes are a killer deal this year. We weren't going to renew ours but almost couldn't afford *not* to. For the four of us we got upgraded to the Gold pass for right around $185. We'll be down there next weekend to process our passes and check out their Fright Fest. From what I can tell some of their Halloween attractions are extra so I don't know how far we'll go with that.

I went down there this spring with a couple of people from here and a friend of mine from Atlanta and we had a good time. I learned a big lesson about wooden coasters on that trip that sticks with me to this day and has helped me appreciate some coasters more than I would have in the past. You should like Superman as you spend most of your time 'flying' on it. It's still not as good as Manta at SWO but it's good nonetheless.

I still don't understand the Six Flags haters as I thought it was a decent park and on par with Carowinds. They are both run differently but are both mainstream corporate parks. I think you'll like the park if you go there with an open mind. Since I've never been there in October I can't give you any advice on that part. For my sake I hope it's not as busy as Carowinds gets that time of year. Unfortunately they're not open on Friday so we're stuck going Saturday.

With our passes we're looking forward to a spring trip to Texas so we can hit the two parks out there. We may also make it to SFMM next year.

Anyway, don't accidentally pass by Acrophobia and Monster Mansion. They are both worthy of your time.

If you have a discover card, make sure you take it. You can shoot through the discover card line at the entrance which is quicker. If you don't have one try to get one before your trip. *Everything* in the park will be discounted by 5% automatically by using your card and then you can easily pay it off when you get back saving you any interest.

By the way I think Over Georgia is one of the nicest Six Flags parks. Don't expect the rest of the chain to be like it.

Thanks for the responses! I will definately take my discover card now We are leaving Saturday! I didnt think we would go this soon, but its actually going to work out great!!! I really hate that I missed my chances on Manta in Orlando over the summer because I decided to wait to ride it later in the day and of course it rained and got shut down So I guess now Superman will be my first true flying coaster, unless you consider Borg / Nighthawk a "flyer". I am really looking forward to the trip shouldnt be that bad of a drive either, maps say 5hrs from my house so it shouldnt be bad at all. Thanks again for the tips I will be sure to get a front seat ride on Georgia Cyclone! I also cant wait for DDD, its one of the main reasons I want to go to that park. Oh yea, I bought my pass and it was only $49.99 for next year, and that included all parks?!?! WWWHHHHAAAAAAA thats nuts! I also renewed my platinum for Carowinds because they have a payment plan as well and Dollywood I re-newed last month on a payment play. I am really liking that all these parks went to payment plans, it really helps out although now I wish I would have just paid $50 for the six flags pass and called it a day but oh well. i didnt get gold because we probaly wont even drive there we will just walk... I may need to upgrade if I go out west next year though for Full Throttle.... Well thanks again and I will post a review when I get back... eventually...

Jonathan, with the new track work on Cyclone, it really is riding very well. Front was killer earlier this year. Back was fantastic.

Glad you're going. I personally think SFoG is not only one of the nicest Six Flags parks, but a lot better than Carowinds (and I love Carowinds, mind you). It's just very different. Nice park, very pretty.

They have a great kiddy coaster too.

Is this your first trip to Atlanta? If so, good luck with the driving.

I want to hit the park up once more this season but I just don't see it happening.

Yea it will be the first time in the atlanta area, I drove through Ga. to FL but of course that was a totally different area... Hoping it wont be to bad. Would you recommend I-85 or I-20 the entire way? I am on the NC SC state line, near Lancaster SC, so the maps say either way.... Just not sure which would be less trafic..

We have only been to two Six Flags parks so far, SFOG and SF Great Adventure and loved them both.

I rode Cyclone in the middle and was completely underwhelmed by it. Jay suggested that I ride it in the front and learned that one ride on any coaster doesn't always give you the right experience to judge it. Since that day I make it a point to ride a coaster in 2-3 different seats before I pass real judgement on it.

After a little whining I ended up renewing our Carowinds Gold passes.

Geogia Cyclone was crazy, to bad for those trims that slow it some but without them it would be very painful I bet. I really liked it, almost as much as thunderhead @ dollywood... I got a backseat and front seat ride, definately rough in the back I really enjoyed all the coasters @ SFoG, except Ninja, I wouldnt ride that again, were were in the very front and it was the roughest ride in that park, probaly that I have ever rode really and there was never a line (for the obvious reason). They need to either re-design the trains for it or rip it down and build something worth having cause that ride was just a pain in the neck

^This may sound strange, but I've never had issues with Ninja. I've only been to the park 4 times; the last being in 2008 and I was fine on it. Mind you I know I couldn't do a marathon on it either...lol I guess I either picked the right seat or it was a good day...lol

Those are newer trains on Ninja this season. The head choppers are awesome but it is my least favorite coaster there. I thought their Fright Fest was relatively lame compared to what we have with SCarowinds.

All I know is no matter where I tried to hold my head, it didnt stay still It was just painful I couldnt enjoy the ride because my neck was hurting to bad, and I though Maverick at CP was painful, this was WAY worse at least i could ride maverick more than once... I dunno maybe the very front was not a good seat, probaly wont ever ride it again to find out, got my credit ha.
