As I was in Carowinds today(Sunday) I talked to several employees that worked Friday so if any of you who are employeed there please tell me if what they told me is correct or not.
As Tre, who worked the basketball games over by Thunder Road, and Shannon, who worked in the Nick Cafe, said that they were expecting 4,000 guests and got over 12,000. That is alot of guests in the park at one time expecially this time of year. Imagine haveing to kick it up a few notches to handle 3 times what you expected.
Jonathan and KenB, I feel sorry for you in all those lines but it is nice to see the park rockn' again.
Today there were alot of "suits" walking around. I don't know who they were but had clipboards and little discussion groups here and there.

Gosh, that alott for this time of year. Maybe the warm weather and area schools in Spring Break contributed to it.

I was there Friday and yes, it was crowded. My first clue came as I turned off of Carowinds Blvd down the entrance road. Out of habit, I always look left at the parking lot to see how much gap there is between the north gate parking and the south gate parking. Well, Friday there was NO gap. The lot was solid. I wasn't that surprised, as it was a holiday weekend. Next Friday shouldn't be that bad. I have friends coming from Boston. They are hitting 6 parks in 5 days! Geeezz!

I had forgotten they were open this coming Friday as well. Don't be too surprised if it's somewhat crowded, as everytime I go on one of these early-season Fridays thinking it'll be slow, I see nothing but buses turning into the parking lot. The park will be full of school groups, and sometimes even Hurler will have a huge line.

That has usually been on those days they're open 9-6, and this Friday it'll be 10-6, so maybe they won't have as many school groups, if any.

While I was kinda bummed due to the crowds on Friday, I was also glad to see it. The park seems to be doing a brisk business so far this year, and BORG has to be a big reason. If they get it running better to where it doesn't get negative word of mouth ("I stood in line for that new ride for 2.5 hours and it broke down") and we have a year without quite as much rain as last year, they should break the attendance record I'd think. Hopefully doing so would spur them on to building more thrill rides.

Of course if the PKI and PGA waterparks do great, they'll attack that next year. That's probably what we'd get regardless, since they'll want to get all the mileage they can out of BORG before stealing it's thunder with a hyper. Still, hopefully they'll put that in (or a launch coaster) in 2-3 years instead of 5 like the wait between Top Gun and BORG - or before that Hurler and Top Gun. In the non-coaster years I'd really like to see them beef up the flats.

Trev, he was talking about this *past* Friday not next Friday the 16th, the date for the Home School day. (Hence the title of the thread "Good Friday Attendance.")

Chalk one up for Trev with a little sarcasm. To bad he ended up making himself look silly

Yes, I think swampfox was talking about the 16th which is what I was referring to. Check the website - NOWHERE does it say "only open to homeschoolers" - and it's on the regular operations calendar, showing they're open 10-6.

So, uhhhh, dude - it certainly looks like it's a regular operations day as well as home school day. That would be consistent with their school Physics Day Fridays, which are open to the public as well.

Just a little bit of warning, 200 15-year-olds are going to carowinds from my school (I'm one of them) on friday, May 28. I know that alot of other schools are going that day too.
