I want to go to carowinds on opening day this year (it's on a friday) because I've never gone on opening day. What are the lines usally like? Is it insanly crowded? What is the best time to get there?
Thanks

JamminJ wrote:Normally Opening Day is hit or miss depending on the weather, good weather more crowds, bad weather less crowds. But this year Opening Day is on Good Friday, and I have never heard a good story come out of Good Friday.

That makes me unsure about going Opening Weekend at all, I know I cant wait to ride Intimidator again.

You all have fun opening weekend. We've tried that before and the crowds are usually more than we like so we're not going to attempt it this year.

Instead, this year we'll be at SFOT/SFFT over Easter weekend.

Fast lane for Carowinds? lol I dont recall any ride really requiring the need to purchase that. Theres only 2 lines that move ridiculously slow in the park. Scooby and Night hawk. The rest are normally under 20 mins.

The only reason you might want fast lane is if you go on July 4th or another busy holiday. If you want to get on rides fast go on a weekday (if your off work) and most of the rides are walk ons.

Had a great time at the park today, not to crowded at all even with the parking lot pretty full. What did you guys think? Anyone do Dinosaurs Alive? From what I see, its looks pretty..... well..... not good at all :D Also did anyone actually go in the FX theatre? We actually got in line for it twice and left both times hahahah. When they told me they removed the seats its just made me mad cause I knew it was the same as Kings Island now, only 3D.... IT was HORRIBLE. Bring back spongebob  I cant believe they would actually ruin our action theatre.... oh well. Anyways, I had a great day in the park, got 5 rides on Intimidator so I am very happy. Will be back next week with my kids and will likely do Dinosaurs Alive.

Yes I was there today as well and I went through dinosaurs alive and it was absolutely my first and last time going to see them. Most of them didn't even move until after you walk away smh just a waste of money out of my pocket and money cedar fair spent on the attraction if that's what you want to call it. As for the movie I was pissed off when I walked and saw that the motion seats were gone and they were replaced with benches that are uncomfortable. I almost walked straight through and out the exit. I thin the dinos are geared for out of towners. They're the only demographic I see spending money to see the Dino alive attraction. Ugh a waste of good land.

I was also there opening day. Not bad at all. We didn't get there until 5pm and the park had a pretty decent crowd. Went straight to Intimidator and 3/4 of the que was full. They were running 3 trains so the wait wasn't bad. Didn't get on the Flyers this time. Long lines and a one man operation (just like last year) make it very slow moving. Thunder Road had more track work done and is nearly perfect until the last 2 hills before the brake-run, which are rather rough. Not sure why they don't complete the entire rehab in one season as opposed to spreading it out over 4-5 seasons. Windseeker was not operating (as expected) and no sign of the new evacuation construction which CF is having done on it. Didn't ride Hurler or Ricochet but I have all season to do those. You can see the entire Dinosaurs Alive from the top of the stairs on After Burn. I cannot see myself paying to do that. It looked cheap, and very "un" life-like. I noticed also that the dinosaurs did not move that often. You have to stand in front of it for a while before it moves. Anyway, I know kids will love it and that is who it is designed for. It also appears they made some new picnic pavilions near the front gate to replace the ones taken by the dinosaurs.

The evac system for Windseeker was stored behind Asylum, visible from Goldrusher. I left at 4, Hurler was better than the last two hills on Thunder Road. AFX looked busy for educational film but I believe 90% of the visitors thought it would still be a ride and only last five minutes. Theres enough dinos around the park that aint no need to pay $5. One by Vortex, Afterburn, Boomerang Bay and by Balloons. I also noticed Season Pass procressing is now the RoseVIP room.
