Agreed. I went to KD last year and was really disappointed with their drop. It was like 300 feet of a completely controlled fall. I'd choose our tower over it any day.

Could the gyro drops just be like that? Ones like Drop of Doom at SFMM might have a really long freefall since the cars weigh much less.

The question you need to ask yourself is this. If you want a "lighter" cart to have a longer freefall, the slower you will go. But if you have a heavier cart, sure it maybe a shorter drop however it will be faster. Drop Zone does have a great drop, but I do wish it was longer and you didnt hear the ticking and locks unlocking. Also the ride ops should play with the riders kinda like Six Flags Over Georgia. You never know when your going to drop.

I still find it amsuing when people think that drop tower operators have control on when the drop happens. Most of the Intamin drop towers I've been on (most of the Drop Zones, Acrophobia, etc.) all have either a 3 or 5 second hold from the time the cart stops moving.

If it seems like the operator is controlling when it falls (Acrophobia) then it just shows that the operator is good at what he does.

I am happy when we don't have a ride like this park or that park. If I want a ride like that park, I go visit that park and get to enjoy something different when I'm there. This is especially important for parks within 10 - 12 hours driving distance from each other.

Good to know! I always wondered if theirs was better. :D

Been a while for me so I thought I would check in and see what was going on. I know this has been brought up before but the latest news/rumor coming out of the Freestyle/Myrtle Beach area is seeming to point toward the property being sold with the possible owner not interested in an amusement park. With Carowinds being the closest major park one would wonder if we would be getting any of the rides and coasters if this all does come true. I still feel like 2015 will be out next major coaster myself. I still feel like it will be a GCI woody, a launcher or a Wing Coaster. Just curious what, if anything, might happen with any possible future plans Cedar Fair/Carowinds have IF rides from the defunct FMP open up? Just curious on what everyone's thoughts would be on this?

If this sale is made it just all depends on what the new owner wants to do with it. From the sounds of it, there are no intentions for them to run the park, so it sounds like they will tear down the park and sell off some of the rides. Cedar Fair may want to buy some of the rides. Personally the only one that I would really care to see saved is the Led Zeppelin coaster (I can't remember what it is called now).

Nothing could be sweeter than wave swinger at Carowinds! Time Machine was the best ride in the park.

I didn't even know it was possible to make a rough B&M, even slightly. I do agree, I would rather have Carowinds buy an original and new ride rather than buy a used one. I feel like it isn't likely that we will have any rides coming our way from the Freestyle Music Park.

It wasn't rough like beat the hell out of you Vekoma rough. It just had a really bad vibration all throughout the course. For some reason a lot of the newer B&Ms have it, but out of all the B&M's I've ridden, Time Machine it has been the most noticeable. And it definitely took away from the ride, IMO.

Intimidator sort of has a hint of this vibration right before the hammerhead, but is of course completely fine over the rest of the course.
